All posts since this January have been showing as unread for me whether or not I read them. Even mark all as read does nothing to help, as it gives me an error saying "Unable to update user last visit data." Is this a universal problem or just a glitch for me? I've sort of let it be since it's not a huge deal but I'd like to fix it if I can.

I just clicked on "Mark all topics as read" and got the same error message, which proves that you do not have that little glitch all to yourself. An administrator will have to explain why that option is even necessary, though. Don't we know which posts we've read without a printed message telling us we've read them? And the option says "Mark all topics," not "posts." When we open a thread, there is no way that the DCF software can tell which of the posts we look at. We might read each one or we might read only the two or three most recent ones. Azure, exactly where are you seeing those "Unread" messages?

Well, it's showing the blue square thing next to the topics and the "new posts" thing, both of which used to disappear after I clicked on topics.
