I picked up the new Epic Mickey comics app last night. So far I'm pretty happy with it. Here's a link to more info at the Apple website, be sure to check out the iPad screen shots.

So, here's the deal. The app is 'free', but as the case with many apps, it's given away to hopefully hook you into buying downloadable content. For free, the app is a no brainer. You get a map of Wasteland, some very cool character bios, one free comic, and a game trailer. The trailer is a waste, there are much better ones to be found on the web.
Now to the comics. The first one is free, but you can purchase five more for $2.99. I hesitate to call them comics, since in reality each one is just a short story nine pages long. Add the fact that each story features the same intro page, and you end up with stories that are really eight pages long. Still, a total of 40 pages (48 if you count the freebie comic) for $2.99 is not a bad deal. I've only read two of the comics so far, and did enjoy them. The artwork is very much to my liking, but the stories...well, nothing to get too excited about. Still, I found them funny, and if you're a fan of the old Disney shorts you'll appreciate the old timey yet twisted feel to them.
Like I said, it's definitely worth the free download to see if you like it. Oh, I have the app on my iPad. I haven't fired it up on my iPod, but I can't imagine the experience would be too good on the tiny display.

It is compatible with both iPod and iPad, but honestly, reading comics on an iPod isn't much fun. Not for me anyway. The display is just too small. I'm guessing the reason they don't release them for computers is due to piracy. Even if you could only read them on a website, screencaps would make it to easy to redistribute. That's just my guess.

Looks pretty good. Wonder if they will continue to pursue this direction.
