A Good Story

I am making a story, as you might know. Just a fan fiction story, but still I want it to be as good as possible. So, Duckfans around the globe, what makes a good story? Tell me some points of attention, things you should always do, and things you should definately NOT do. So I can make the best story as I possibly could now. Who knows, maybe next year my writing is better again, but for now, this is the limit. The actual story is already finished, I'm only correcting it. So: a good story, what's in it? You know, right?

-Lots of humor, drama when possible.
-Avoiding cliches.
-Trying something never done before. Say, a "Life and Times" for Donald Duck.
-Being smarter than the smarties and tougher than the toughies.

No drama. I'm just not a drama man. So I rely on the humor and the adventure. Drama isn't really something for your avarage Duck reader, I think.

Alternative: play with cliches. Something I learned from the TvTropes site. It's fun to, for example, lampshade it. A good example is coming from The Emperor's New Groove which is something like this.
Pacha: Uh oh.
Kuzco: Say nothing. We're heading towards a large waterfall?
Pacha: Yup.
Kuzco: With sharp spikes and rocks at the bottom?
Pacha: Most probably.
Kuzco: Bring it on.
Both: AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH!

Ah, but I've got another habit which on its own hasn't been done before in Duck comics, but has in other media. You take the basic idea frrom an existing movie or book, add Ducks to it and make a complete new story from it! That's the basic premise for my story.
Also, a DD Life and Times has already been done. An old story by Strobl, anyone?
