The German publisher just released a new Carl Barks edition with two hardcover books containing all 35 christmas stories by Carl Barks: http://coa.inducks.org/publication.php?c=de/WGCB

It seems to look really great!

Does anyone know, if this is the final design? Amazon shows another (not so nice) cover and box design.

That really looks nice! I wish it was in English.

Very nice. What a great gift to give someone.

Yes. It's already available in stores and was on display at the Frankfurt Book Fair.

Thank you! That's great. I will probably order it.

Mmph... coloration and lettering the same as in the Carl Barks Collection, surprise, surprise. That's something like the fourth or fifth recycling of CBC material in a new wrapping now within a relatively short space of time; Barks is really pressed out like a lemon recently by Ehapa. But anyway, having already all kinds of Barks libraries, collections, selections, I plunked down the 50 Euros and bought that thing today. My Barksmania blasted all bounds of rationality already long ago, and as a bundling of his Christmas stories those two books are indeed nice and cute and sweet. Merry Christmas everybody ... in two months.

Shouldn't it read "Kassenlage", in your case? ;)

I still don't know if it was not in a momentary attack of mental derangement that I spent those 50 Euros yesterday for a collection of stories that I have already in exactly the same makeup and that will hardly be anything else than a dust catcher in my shelf. I got drunk later the night to drown such questions. ;)

There is for the record, a French book which comes out this month on the same topic.

It is published by editor Glenat, who plans to do many other Disney graphic novel albums: a Barks and Gottfredson integral, as well as reprints of the French weekly, and more one-shot albums.
Those albums are made in collaboration with Ulrich Shröder, who did the cover above.

You mean integral as in "complete works"? There was a chronological Gottfredson edition published by Hachette some decades ago, but they gave up after the 8th volume or so.

The artist's name is spelled "Ulrich Schröder", just for the record. ;)

Seeing how the Dutch are so busy with all their sideline series, we might get this as well. Then again, maybe not. Who knows?

It looks a little too expensive (based on quality) to attract enough customers in the Dutch market to support a costly 2-book volume. But I hope they do print it.

Yes, I mean "complete work". At least that's how they call it. I don't think Hachette's integral (nor Glénat's) was meant to go beyond 1955. It would already be good, as a few Gottfredson stories are still unpublished here.

I would like to see a (complete) Scarpa colletion in English. I think he's quite underappreciated.

Back to the topic: I bought myself a Barks christmas library today. It's the Gladstone version. In a store close to me I saw almost all the CBLs (both the b/w and in color) and I knew I had to buy this one instead of the others. (just because it's more hard-to-get, the reasons actually had nothing to do with Christmas) I also bought the CBL of WDC 51.
