I will attempt to guess some more stories shortly.
Gyro Gearloose
"In a second story, where did they go before Christmas? What other family members were involved?
What was interesting about the celebration?"

I'm guessing, but could that be the story where Scrooge drags Donald and the nephews along on a treasure hunt aboard a submarine just before Christmas?

To which year are you referring?
Gyro Gearloose
1958.

Sorry. The story you described is "Christmas Under The Ocean" from WDC & S #172, from Christmas 1955. The 1958 WDC story was a different Christmas story. But, thanks to your question, we've answered for 1954.
Don't you think it's strange that since your recent answer post, I've given up my Dutch citizenship, and become a Dane?
Just as I finished my post, the authorities, disgusted at my switching allegiance so quickly and so often, gave me a general EU citizenship!!!

If I am not mistaken, here are the the questions that remain to be answered.

Quote from user: Robb_KThis quiz covers Carl Barks' Christmas stories:

(2) Where did Donald and his nephews celebrate it in 1946?

(8) Where did Donald celebrate Christmas in 1952? With whom? What other family members were involved?

(12) Where did Donald and his nephews celebrate in 1956? With whom? What was interesting about Huey, Dewey and Louie's condition?

(13) Where did Donald and his nephews celebrate Christmas in 1957? With whom? What was interesting about the weather?
In a second story that year, what was interesting about the gifts?

(14) Where did Donald and his nephews celebrate in 1958? With whom? What was interesting about Christmas dinner?
In a second story, where did they go before Christmas? What other family members were involved?
What was interesting about the celebration?

(15) What event highlighted Duckburg's Christmas celebration in 1959? What other family members were involved.
In a second story, where did Donald and his nephews celebrate? What was interesting about that place? How did Donald spend his time during most of the holiday?

(16) Where did Donald and his nephews celebrate in 1961? What event occurred? Who else was involved?

(17) Where did Donald and his nephews celebrate in 1962? Who else was involved? What "gift" was given involuntarily?

(18) Where did Donald and his nephews celebrate in 1964? What other family member was involved? What noteworthy non-family member was also involved?

Here are a few more guesses...

Quote from user: Robb_K(2) Where did Donald and his nephews celebrate it in 1946?
I have had this one for some time, but I wanted to think more about it.
They spend Christmas in a lighthouse.
The only thing that bothered me was what made it a Christmas story; I only recalled something about decorations; now I remember more clearly: the lighthouse is almost drowned under in a huge storm, and they string lanterns (or Christmas decorations? that's the point that made me unsure) at the top of it to guide ships; a thankful ship leaves them gifts "anonymously" (from santa Claus).

Quote from user: Robb_K(15) What event highlighted Duckburg's Christmas celebration in 1959? What other family members were involved.
I still cannot think of family members other than Donald, the nephews and Uncle Scrooge-- I suppose Daisy and Gladstone are featured in the final panel, but cannot remember.
I cannot remember the title either, but I believe the event is the lighting of the tree, which Duckburg had trouble getting because the Beagle Boys had stolen all the trees available.

What about the censored "Silent Night"? I can't find it in here; it was written in the '40's, but published much later. Great story, too.

I can think of other Christmas stories, but cannot pinpoint the year, and the questions do not help.
For instance, there is the one where the city wants to repave a street, Doanld wants a truck, the nephews want a chemist's set, and Scrooge needs more money to make his quota, and everything ties up together in the end.
"The Christmas Cha-Cha" was published in the '60's; it might be the answer to 16/ (1961), if the "event" alluded to is the Cha-Cha competition, featuiring Daisye, of course.

Olivier: You are correct on #2-They spent Christmas on Lonely Rock Lighthouse.
#15 is INCORRECT! You confused the years.
Yes, the censored "Silent Night" was the answer to one of my yearly questions. There were 2 Christmas stories that year.
"The Christmas Cha Cha" was the answer to one question (but you have the years mixed up.
"Streets Paved With Gold" is also the answer to one question. All we need is the correct years for those, and who celebrated with The Ducks.

"(15) What event highlighted Duckburg's Christmas celebration in 1959? What other family members were involved."
This one would be the Christmas Cha Cha story, then?
"(17) Where did Donald and his nephews celebrate in 1962? Who else was involved? What "gift" was given involuntarily?"
I had thought this story was from the fifties, but could it be the "Streets Paved With Gold" (I know it as "Christmas Cheers") ten-pager? The one where Scrooge inadvertently winds up paving Duckburg's streets with a giant gold nugget ("Hooray for kindly old Scrooge McDuck! He even gave us hoboes and taxpayers a Christmas present!")
Robb_K
(15) -correct! "Christmas cha cha".
(17)-Correct! 1962 was "Quack Street Paved in Gold".

Questions number 13 and 18 among others seem still not answered at all.

13. Without cheating i e looking in my collection or in INDUCKS etc, I would suggest one story is from Xmas in Disneyland 1 where Donald & the nephews and Uncle Scrooge have travelled by boat to a tropical volcanic island, but I cannot recall the exact name (something like Tabu Yama or so or was that another Disney island ?). The volcano erupted after being filled by the gang, probably with some kind of feathers (reminding of a later Gyro tale) thus creating a "snow fall". I am not sure though, even if I read this story just half a year ago, obviously no Barks favorite of mine !

18. After more than 35 years of specializing in USA Barks comics I still have a slightly better feeling for the chronology in the swedish comic books, at least regarding the 10-pagers.
However my wild guess is that the 1964 story may be the poem - albatross - story, even if it was published in Sweden in the summer of 1967 :) . I know that this story was published a little bit late in Sweden but not exactly when the original came nor if it was considered a christmas story in USA...
So if my guess is correct they were on a steamer with Daisy (and Gladstone ?) and met an albatross who also was an important piece of the poem that Donald had learned to recite.
I remember a piece of a poem from the swedish translation : " Vad felas dig - jag grep en pil och sköt en albatross"

Shouldn't that be corn - that pops to popcorn ?

In Volcano Valley...

Och välkommen till Runner!
Runner
Hedberg, thank you and you may be right about the corn certainly that was the case in Volcano Valley. I may have to start reading my Disney collection as school books :)
Looking at another topic I accidently learned that my answer on number 18 must be wrong since that story was published in WDC&S 312, which was around 1966 not 1964...

I have the Black Pearls of Tabu Yama in Mickey and Donald #17.

Question number 12 :

In Sweden one of my really childhood favorites before I could read was the first Barks 10-pager in the Swedish Walt Disneys Serier number 13 from 1956. Sometimes the swedish publication date was just shortly after the USA publication.
Therefore, and since the question also reads "What was interesting about Huey, Dewey and Louie's condition?" which implies there was something special with the triplets, I deduce that it could be my old favorite in which the nephews refuse to wash their dirt off after playing partly since they found it healthy. I think this appealed to me when I was 5-6 years old and my mother had to read this story over and over for me. They lose at last though and they all celebrate christmas at home, but with whom ? Either Daisy or Grandma, but I think she congratulates Donald and/or asks how he manage to keep his nephews so clean. My guess is it was Grandma.

I ought to be able to do a little simple arithmatics to find out which issue of the (assumed always) monthly WDC&S contained this story. The problem though is that I have no 100 % certain "reference" stored in my memory. The first Barks 10-pager in WDC&S 31 (Victory Garden) could have been an october release, or am I mixing up with the october 1940 WDC&S 1 :) . Hmm, the latter should be correct and therefore number 31 should have been an april release which seems familiar. Thus the dec 1943 issue was number 39, which I recall could have a snowy cover motif, probably a Kelly cover.
So the dec 1956 issue should be number 13x12 + 39 = 195. The front cover, if I remember correctly, is the same as of the swedish comic book i e a Strobl cover with Donald on a red back ground.
