Right now I have seen a lot of Boom comics and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, and they are no good. Also, the number of classic Disney fans contiue to decerase. Currently, Mickey Mouse and gang are one of a rare type; classic cartoons in general has gone down badly (Looney Tunes, anyone?) and most of them now are mostly history, with the exception of some logos and merchandise. The Simpsons, Disney Classics and some remaining chunks of old Looney Tunes are the only old cartoons still remaining for the most part. (no, anime doesn't count here.) And The Simpsons is going down the drain in quality, and Disney Classics is going down the drain even quicker. Time to pull the plug? And Im not saying they should pull the plug on the regular comics, but the damn superhero stuff from Boom and even worse-Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and all the new christmas classics with Mickey and the gang. These things are tarnishing the reptuation of Classic Disney-the old stuff had plots and action. The new crap-OMG, I thought they were jokes. Time to let go.

I have bought US comic books (in Canada and USA) since 1952, and through Dell, Gold Key, Whitman and Gladstone and Gemstone (and collected all those from the 1940s through 1951, as well. I have looked at the Boom! comics, and have decided not to buy them. I have now only Dutch Disney Comics, and any English language printings of other Egmont produced stories I can find (Ehapa, Singapore, India, etc.) to look forward to. It is very sad. But I'm sure it will get even worse, when paper comics disappear.
On the other hand, I really will have no room to continue to pack paper into my house and flats (on two continents). But, I also feel sad that there is precious little page space to see stories by myself and my friends printed in English. I hope Boom! will make more space available for classic 4-tier style comics in the Barks vein.

I'm ok with the reprints-think you guys misunderstood me. They should just pull the plug on all the new stuff, tho.

I'd love to see new stuff, but better new stuff.
There's a huge difference between the Ultraheroes-type stories and all the new material that Gemstone was printing. Everything is too one-sided now, with only long Italian stories. It's like if a cinema would only play movies in one genre ... it's boring and it doesn't appeal to everyone.

I know-but it seems impossible now, and the reputation is already tarnished...need some new writers and talent, or just kill it.
What's happening to Classic Disney is just like the final days of Looney Tunes and The Simpsons nowdays; lack of new talent, crap gets repeated over and over again, and too many fillers so that the autual story is pointless.

I disagree that there is a lack of new talent. Look at the artwork of Henrieke and McDuck Menu (on this forum). We still have Mau and Bas Heymans. They are drawing very nicely in the classic style. Look at the story by Frank Jonker. That is a classic Barks style story. Daan Jippes is still drawing well, and writing such stories, or drawing stories by writers still writing in that tradition. Egmont also has William and Noel Van Horn, Wanda Gattino, Kari Korhonen and others to try to continue the tradition. I feel that the stories I am writing and that David Gerstein, Lars Jensen, Gorm Transgaard as well others of our Dutch Disney comics writers and artists are writing and drawing still in that tradition. There is not a lack of talent. There may be a choice by US and Italian (and maybe French?) publishers to print a lot of stories that are not in that tradition. But that is not the mix we get in The Netherlands, or that the Scandinavians or Germans get.

I also disagree that there is no talent. I really enjoyed most of the Italian, Dutch and Danish stories that Egmont printed. There are thousands of great stories available to BOOM to choose from.
Boom has taken a 180 degree turn by going from the traditional Disney comics that Gladstone and Gemstone printed to the long Italian adventure stories, thinking that that would suddenly appeal to kids. But I think it's the marketing and distribution that's the cause of low sales, not the type of stories.

Yes, there is talent out there. There are thousands of great, classic, in the US unpublished, stories out there. I see them in the comic books by Egmont/EHAPA monthly. I would love to see them printed in English.

I think it was a very good decision of Boom to print the new stories of Casty. They are next to Gottfredson and Scarpa the best Mickey Mouse stories available.

Me too! I love the European one. It would be the best to see a similar one in English.

This is why I'd like to see a website with ALL the Disney Comics in full! (When I mean full...I mean all the stories, nit just a page or two).
