Thanks to Corriere della Sera and Disney Italia, this week in Italy started Gli anni d'oro di Topolino (Mickey Mouse Golden Years), aka the Italian Floyd Gottfredson Library. Infos:

In 38 weekly volumes (price ?¬ 9,99 each; first volume ?¬ 2,99 in newstands) will be published in chronological order (beginning from 1937, for marketing reasons; previous years will be published in the last volumes) all Gottfredson dailies and sunday pages (always for marketing reasons, in color), with new Italian translations, together with other material such as articles, paintings, etc. With every volume will be also given a reproduction of the corresponding issue of Topolino (with volume # 1 TL issue # 1, with volume # 2 TL issue # 2, and so on). Most important contributors and makers of this work are Luca Boschi and Alberto Becattini.

Dailies are also colored? Are those available also for foreign customers? I can't read Italian, but I still would like to see the first volume. :-)

Yes! I once ordered books with shipping to Germany. Worked well, but took 3-4 weeks.

So should we assume that this includes the infamous "Mickey's suicide attempts" segment? I have a hard time imagining THOSE being reprinted in the US anytime in the foreseeable future.

If it has the complete and unaltered "Gypsies", "Treasure Island", "Foreign Legion" etc. I'm officially envious! I've always wanted to learn Italian, maybe now the time is right.

I'm not a big mouse fan, but if something like this were released stateside, I would probably check it out for its historical value. I wouldn't learn Italian for it, though.

Today in Italy is holiday, but some lucky ones (I am not one of these ones) found the third volume, maybe the most spectacular one of the series:

Timo, they say all stories will be published in their original way, except for language, of course, and for colours. I'll try to let you know everything.

Found today third volume; all guns are where they have to be in MM Outwits the Phantom Blot (it isn't the Paul Murry version, but the original one).

I got my copy today :)
A very nice book, great coloring. Just the paper quality could be better. It's very thin.

With the book comes a reprint of Topolino #1. Interesting to look through that.

Hi!

Charlie Brown, how did you manage to order that book? I tried on the Italian site mentioned above (Corriere della Sera). I could add items but when I was done and just had to enter a shipping address, it turned out that any other country than Italy was invalid as shipping address. I tried Germany as well, just to see if it was possible, since you could order. Is there a way to go around the country selection? I would need shipping to Sweden.
