Simple. When Jerry Lewis wasn't as popular as he was in USA in the 1950's and early 60's, poshy French movie critics "found" him, applauded him and wrote many admirable articles and even books about him. He's more popular in France than in USA.
Same goes with Donald Duck - but in Gemany. Not popular anymore in USA, but huge in Germany (and other places in Europe too - OK), popular even among the high brow literary critics and art lovers (especially Barks).

I think they were never ment to compare that way. Instead of Lewis they might have used any other American popular culture phenomena that isn't popular in USA any more, but more so in Europe. Phantom is Jerry Lewis of Sweden so to speak.

The three little pigs lives in "Griseby" (Pigtown) in the outskirts of Duckburg.
In a Lil' Bad Wolf-story (by Gil Turner) the Practical Pig swabs his "brickbuild" house on Woodroad , Pigtown, for a month in a quit apartment in a city.
The applicant on the add is Donald Duck, who jumps in bed, thinking:"No annoying kids... no streetcars... no...zzzz"

That would be between Duckburg and GooseTOWN (in English). Gooseville is much farther away.

No. Puin translates to RUBBLE(fallen down buildings), not rubbish(trash, refuse), in English. And dorp translates to village (much smaller than a City). A City in USA can have 5,000 people, but most cities in USA have more than 10,000 people. A village shouldn't have more than a few hundred people (despite Düsseldorf's giant size). I would call Puindorp Rubbleville. But Isn't it called Shacktown in USA?

Yes! I'm getting senile. Of course, I know Tokkie Tor lives in Puindorp. It's Krotdorp that is Shacktown in English ("Hovelville"). I guess junk could be loosely translated into rubble. "Rubble" is a much wider category than is "junk".

Sigvald, there are many differences between the CBC and the CBL. Very few articles appear in both series, the stories are much less censored in the CBC, the stories are printed in a different order, some cover reproductions are different, the CBC is in colour while the CBL is in black & white, some sketches only appear in the CBC, the Jippes-drawn stories only appear in the CBC etc. etc.
