They come in all sizes, don't they? How do you prefer them? I'd say slim fits them the best, because they are meant to be always on the run, or ready to be, and lacking the money to fill their fridge.

No, I mean it. I won't argue about their ineptness, but Strobl's Beagles had a stroke of sheer brutality:

How true you are. Lot of those stories were published in the Donald Duck Extra. Even worse are the backside one-pagers from the Donald Duck in 2008, drawn by Sander Gulien. (pronunced as Ku-leen) Horrible Beagles, and then I'm not not talking about how they are!
Example: The 100th time the Boys get caught. What does one say: "It's terrible they didn't congratulate us." Or the time they say that people should be nicer to them, because it's their job. Or a poem:

I would say Khoo-leen or Ghoo-leen would be better approximations to English readers. But it is difficult, as that extremely gutteral sound doesn't exist in English (anymore). It did in Old English, -thus the seemingly odd spellings of enough (Dutch genoeg), plough (Dutch ploeg), etc. are remnants in present English.

The first sound in Sander's family name sounds like a person whose sinuses are filled with mucous, getting ready to spit out all the phlegm in a violent way. The international phonetic symbol for that sound is a modified X(of sorts).
