I've always wondered why most, if not all, of his stories have never been published in the United States. Siegel was American, and famous, and he did write in English, as far as I know, so there would be no translation costs. Or did he write in Italian? One reason could be that his stories are considered bizarre and even scary by most. They certainly are unfit for young children; Zio Paperone e l'antimonetario (http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL++913-C), for instance, would give nightmares to anybody. But I don't believe this is a sufficient reason. Does anyone know?

Yes. His best stories - those that are seen as his most memorable, at least - are all Duck Universe, though. There is a little on his Disney years on http://it.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jerry_Siegel
