Hello all,
I recently lost my entire comics collection in a flood (along
with everything else). I had probably 80-85% of the regularly published
Duck comics from the 1940s up through Gold Key and then ~60% of the ones
published in the 1990s and a year's worth of the most recent
publishings. I am wondering what is the most cost-effective and safest
way to rebuild my collection...eBay? Craigslist? Any other ideas? By
the way, for the other collectors out there...Please make sure your
collection is water safe.

A former responder suggested to Tom that the best way of rebuilding his collection is to use eBay. I agree, but with the following caveat. At least 50% of the eBay sellers (particularly with the older stuff) have no idea how to properly grade their comics so personally I never trust their judgment without seeing a photo of what they are selling. Also be aware that many people have no clue about the actual value of their material so you can get some real bargains, but many items are ridiculously over priced. Having said this, I have not bought a single old comic anywhere except off eBay in the last five years and in 90% of the cases have been more than satisfied.

You might try going to a large dealer: if you bought a good number of
comic books all at once, I am sure he would give you a discount, since
the market moves so slowly, especially in Duck comics. The stores I used
to visit here in Ohio in fact gave me discounts on brand new Disney comic
books, since they sold so slowly, or not at all.

I instantly got this Uncle Scrooge story

Barosso envisioned driverless cars for Scrooge's factory already in 1965.
One of my favorite stories when I was kid.

Driverless cars are one of those Great Ideas that have defied real-
