Hey all!

Been lurking for years, but some of you old-timers might remember me.

Anyway, about the price difference for Darkwing Duck:

Boom actually isn't printing this title under their Boom Kids imprint,
so the book is going for the same price as the rest of Boom's main-line stuff.

Not saying that's a justification, just that these things are quite likely related.

Oh, and the first issue sold out across Vancouver as well. Very impressive.

Sales are really slipping. Scrooge had 4,604 copies sold in January and
3,677 in May.

On the upside, Darkwing Duck sold 6,300 copies....at 3.99 per copy.

Darkwing Duck sales seem to indicate that there's some nostalgia
involved for 1980s Disney Afternoon cartoons. That's probably why Boom
is publishing DuckTales stories with the DuckTales logo prominent on
the Uncle Scrooge covers. I wonder if that is helping or hurting sales
of Scrooge comics.

Greetings!

Tony Leopold reported that 1,000 readers were lost for Uncle Scrooge in less than half a year.

Are the stories not very good? Re-re-re-re-reprints? I cannot find copies around my city to peruse. If Darkwing Duck is selling, one would assume its stories are stronger.

Perhaps an heir to the Carl Barks/Don Rosa dynasty needs to be found!

People who are willing to buy Uncle Scrooge include a large faction of
adults who have come to expect more than they are getting with the current
title (that is really geared towards kids). Even the Scrooge collectors who
want to keep their collection complete, have stopped buying the Scrooge title,
or reluctantly buy one and don't even read it.. The younger audience is
not buying Uncle Scrooge.
With Barks gone, and Rosa retired, you must find someone willing to write a
decent story.

Yeah, it's not looking too good overall. I'm glad about Darkwing doing well,
but you also have to remember that #1s sell significantly more copies than a
#2 or #3 -- so expect a dropoff in the coming months.

I am very curious if the DuckTales theme has helped Uncle Scrooge's numbers
any. But seeing as how it didn't make the Top 300 this month, there's no way
of knowing. Maybe next month? It's interesting to note, however, that
Gemstone's Scrooge book never dipped below 4,000 copies. And that was with a
cover price more than twice what the Boom! edition is.

Meanwhile, Sonic the Hedgehog still moves around 8,000 issues a month. And
it's based on a video game series that's been declining in quality over the
past decade or so. :-/

Hardly seems fair, with Mickey supposedly being the most famous cartoon
character in the world and all.

Here are some heroes which I couldn't find in Inducks.
At least "Rob Roy" is printed as a "Walt Disney presents" comic.
Does anyone know these heroes?

Can you or anyone explain why this issue is "infamous"?

There seems to be some consensus that the quality of Uncle Scrooge comics under Boom Publishing is not the best: can anyone specify the problems?

You basically summarized things perfectly in my opinion. I was willing
to pay up for Barks and Rosa but now I flip through new books and the
art seems uncompelling and the stories not what I am used to.

I asked my local comic store how disney was selling and the kids do not
purchase it for themselves. He said the parents are buying them for their
kids when they happen to sell. I imagine summer vacations up north do
require something to keep the kids happy on the car ride or rainy days?

Barks is Barks. What can I say?

Rosa was dedicated ?because? he liked it so much.

How does one find a person like that? Many are willing but few are able?
