Happy & fruitful new year is being wished upon you all.
But good heavens to Betsy, what's this?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330846740238&fromMakeTrack=true

from which I quote, in spite of the incessant & rather
tiring Capitalisation of All Letters:

" RARE! SCROOGE MCDUCK CAPITALIST AND PROUD
OF IT! DISNEY CARL BARKS COMICS UNCLE
#50 of 400!!!! Refutes Marxist Anti-Disney Propaganda! "
etc. etc.:

" Reply to Criticism of Disney Comics Ideology
#50 of 400
EXTREMELY COVETED TREATISE ON CARL BARKS'
UNCLE SCROOGE!
This is #50 of 400 copies existing of "Scrooge McDuck
Capitalist & Proud of it!"

The definitive refutation of the Marxist book "How to read Donald Duck"
which was published in South America for revolutionaries and
aspiring Marxist utopians, which trashed Walt Disney and
Carl Barks comic books in one swoop.

This small press publication is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to obtain and
is literally worth its weight in gold! Limited to 400 copies, it is
one of the hardest Carl Barks collectibles to obtain!
As of this writing, no copies are available on Ebay, Alibris or Amazon!
12 pages cover to cover. Profusely illustrated in black and white. "

I'm rather skeptical, also because of the price: usd 950.00 (!),
"literally worth its weight in gold" indeed.

So please enlighten us, if you know what this is.

It's a scam, Total Rip Off and BS. $975!!? For the photocopied/laser printed 12 pages. Laughable BS.

Sorry, but this capitalist won't spend his hard-heard money to try and find.

and I agree. It looks fully unserious to me -- in particular
the awful price for 12 pages without even an author's name
to it, but also "the project" itself. My level of skepticism
did now decrease after this brief exchange with the seller:

** Nils:

Please tell me just a bit more about this item. And apparently you doubled
the price from yesterday, is that correct -- from usd 487 to usd 950? Why?

** Seller:

The regular price for this item is $975 dollars. We had it on
a Holiday sale yesterday for 50% off, which is why it was only
$487.50.
"Scrooge McDuck Capitalist And Proud Of It" is an extremely rare
treatise that refutes "How To Read Donald Duck" and is very
pro-capitalism. Only 400 of these were ever produced so it's [sic]
exclusivity alone makes it a must-have for any truly dedicated
Carl Barks fan. Thank you for your interest!

Actually it's a publisher named Goody. Here's an article about it (in
portuguese, sorry):

http://www.goody.pt/noticias/disney-comix-de-volta/?refhome

They have a monthly magazine (Hiper Disney, like the one from before)
and a weekly one (Comix), which is something new, at least for me.
Perhaps back in the 70s or 80s the Disney comics were also weekly?

Still not much information.

I have just searched for this title, and the most interesting result so far
is this reference on the Disney Comics Forum, last September (on the 27th--
that's message # 24):
http://dcf.outducks.org/viewtopic.php?id=1200&p=1
"There is a follow up to it "Scrooge McDuck Capitalist and Proud" that I
have been dying to read but alas the last time I saw it for sale it was 300
(far too much for my stingy heart).
Here is a link to an online PDF of "How to Read Donald Duck", copies of it
do pop up on ebay from time to time as well.
http://www.scribd.com/doc/33788991/How-to-Read-Donald
Also, here is a link to one of the authors follow ups, after learning that
most of what he was attacking was the work of one man.
http://www.english.ufl.edu/imagetext/ar . _2/kunzle/
And lastly here is my reply to "The Parts That Got Left Out of the Donald
Duck Book,
or: How Karl Marx Prevailed Over Carl Barks" which I'll post on my rather
empty blog. I actually already quoted a couple of paragraphs on this in my
last post. http://blog.mcduckindustries.com/ "

I guess this link got mangled somehow, it should be

http://www.english.ufl.edu/imagetext/archives/v6_2/kunzle/

right?

Oh, thanks!

I wonder how many pages will Comix have. I remember the cheapest ones
from Edimpresa (Pato Donald and Tio Patinhas) used to be 1.98 EUR, Comix
is cheaper, but, on the other hand, if it is weekly, I guess it does not
have that many pages...

What about Hiper Disney, do you know if they are going to continue the
series numbering where Edimpresa left it, or start anew from 1? (Once
again, just curious. If they start anew, it will be fun if they ever
launch Pato Donald, the Edimpresa one was already "Pato Donald (Segunda
S?rie)" in INDUCKS...)

Well,

Disney comics are finally back in Portugal, apparently, but without the
possibility of subscriptions.

Here is an extract of communication with the publisher for the benefit
of other Portuguese speaking DCML users:

Hi again,

Good news, it is now possible to subscribe at least one of the magazines
being published in Portugal:

http://www.assineagora.pt/detail.ud121?oid=4363453&from_zone=Destaques+homepages&UDSID=%A7%A7%A7%A7001301041440460006732769%A7%A7%A7%A7

hope this helps...

Question forwarded to me, from a friend of a friend of a friend,
and, embarrassingly, I do not the answer: Which story is this?

The key words are as follows: Donald is working as a composer,
in a short story of perhaps one or perhaps two pages, and
he's not only surrounded by but also disturbed by the three
nephews and perhaps even a big dog (Bolivar?). The point
is that as long as he's being disturbed, he actually gets some
composition work done, but as soon as he sends them away
he can't get anything done anymore. So he needs to ask
them to continue messing noisly around again.

Ten Brutopian kopeks to the first person coming up with
the correct reference.

... but the ten brutokopeks may already have been won:

Greetings!

I noted that the author of the "Donald the Composer" is unknown: does
anyone have a guess?

I can check with a friend who has done indexing of some stories.
