I hate to take the focus off of Disney comics for a few moments, but I wanted to encourage you all to catch The Princess and the Frog in theaters if you can. I took my family to see it over the weekend. While not on the same level as, say, The Lion King... it was good. It was very, very good.
More importantly, this film's performance will either make or break the future of Disney's traditional 2D animation. Disney comics, of course, owe their existence to classic Disney animation and it would be a shame to see that disappear. For years, stellar hand drawn animation defined "Disney."
The film grossed about $25 million in the U.S. this weekend. Not bad, but no where near the opening box office for CGI films such as Ice Age, Shrek, etc. This story has some real heart, and the unfortunate truth is that it would've probably done twice what it did had it been animated in CGI.
To bring this back to comics... the story is about backing up your wishes with hard work. Scrooge McDuck would be proud. ;)

Like every Disney's release, there is a graphic novel of the movie, and also a one shot magazine for preschoolers, I think.

No, not in the same league as "Up." Few animated movies are.

I'd put it on par with Aladdin... definitely better than most of the late 90s output like Hunchback and Hercules. Not quite as good as Little Mermaid or Beauty and the Beast as far as princess movies go.

It's still the best 2D effort Disney has put out in a long time, and worthy of support if for no other reason than to ensure that Disney continues to produce hand drawn animation.
