Quote from user: RancidDuckI recently purchased The Complete Goofy, but it did not include the booklet and art card that was supposed to come with it.

I was wondering if one of you nice people would send me good quality scans of the 8-page booklet and the front and back of the art card so that I could print me off a copy to put in my dvd case.

I have been contemplating purchasing the Disney Rarities and Silly Symphonies Vol. 2 sets. What are your opinions on the content of these two.

Personally, I really enjoyed the Disney Rarities collection. It has some material that is harder to find and is a little more unique than the standard character driven cartoons.

I was particularly entertained by the "Truth about Mother Goose" short subject. I remember catching it on the Disney Channel as a kid and hadn't seen it in a number of year. My wife has even used it in her class a few times and all of her students got a kick out of how it presented history in an interesting way.

I did a pretty good job of keeping up with the Disney Treasures until their 2007 set. So now I have to hunt online for a good deal on sets that are now selling for at least $70 bucks a pop.

I have not been able to even try my Donald set yet, and I had a tough time getting The Scarecrow, which ran out of stock within two weeks.

I had not pre-ordered it because I was trying to figure out what books to order from which store and so on, with some going out of stock then getting back in stock and so on; in the end, I got my set from a French DVD store-- surprisingly enough, for about the same price the Donald set cost me (ordering from amazon.com); it usually is more expensive.

Of course, there will probably be Blu-Ray versions in a few years, but I don't want to risk missing out on these if they don't release BR editions until a dozen years.
I'm not buying anything like Wall-E on DVD, however; I'll get this on BR when I upgrade to HD (both TV & BR).

I did yesterday - but I, too, stand in the middle off the crossing. The price for BR-movies is about more than twice the price of DVD's, so as a "hooked" collector, I foresee another expensive set of items for the shelf...

Actually I started my DVD collection even long before I bought a DVD-player, so whenever I found "must have"-movies, I bought them - along with the VHS-tape version. Might be an idea with BR, too?

Some years ago I bought a "combi" VHS/DVD player for my mom - she died last year, so I enherited it - and you know what?
It makes excelent DVD copies from VHS tapes ! In my x-mas vacation, I will transfer my Disney collection to DVD - at least the ones that are gone out of stock...

I recently got the Disney Treasures Donald Duck #4 set and loved the Donald Goes to Press feature. Great work, David!
I am blown away by the HD quality of Blu Ray. The first Blu Ray movie I bought was Wall-E and the image is so sharp, it's incredible! I don't think that I am going to buy all Disney films in HD again, maybe just some of my favorite ones. It's clever what Disney did with Sleeping Beauty; they released the Blu Ray with a free DVD disc for people who don't have a Blu Ray player yet. A part of me hopes that they'll re-release the Disney Treasures in HD, but my wallet doesn't agree. ;)

Thanks for the compliment, Arthur!
But I'd like to thank Joe Torcivia and Bob Foster, too, who gave wonderful interviews as well.
Not to mention Leonard Maltin and (production manager) Ted Nicolaou, who involved us all in the first place!

The Digital Bits has a very interesting interview on the restoration of Sleeping Beauty, which reveals that part of the picture had been cropped out by previous transfer processes.

Thanks for the input. I ordered both of the sets I was asking about. I found them still available on Disney's online store. I haven't had a chance to watch them yet though.

Good luck on finding the sets from the last couple of years. Try checking Best Buy, which I am sure you already have. The two in my area have one or two available from the past year or so. Or, they did the last time I looked. I know Target gets the new ones when they come out also.

I received the 2009 sets of Walt Disney Treasures two days ago:
Zorro-- The Complete First Season (1957-1958)
Zorro-- The Complete Second Season (1958-1959)

I have just watched the first disc, and it was superb.

A most important fact: this is the original black and white print, not the colorized edition (which is not included as an option either); this is the only thing that mattered to me when I saw the announcement months ago, and again when I ordered the sets-- so much so that I missed another thing, which can be of importance as well: these are not 2-disc sets as usual, but 6-disc sets; you way want to factor this in your purchase & viewing plannings, since you usually have a month to change flawed DVDs (watching them by threes requires 26 days).

I am delighted this series has finally been released, and in the WDT collection too (meaning, with all the care given each of their releases); I have been wishing for it since the first batch of WDT DVDs.

As stated above, the image is superb; the beginning of the main titles and the very first shot in the series (a ship at sea, nearing the coast) are somewhat grainy and "soft", but the rest of the feature looks great.

This was a splendid series, with a wonderful cast, and it looks gorgeous in black and white.

Incidentally, I will seize this opportunity to read my volume of Alex Toth Zorro; I started reading it some time ago but was interrupted; I know some chapters are adaptations of episodes from the series, but I'm not sure whether all of the chapters were.
Of course, I will also read again Barks' "In Old California".
