What do you think about bringing real politics into comics, like Barack Obama in Spiderman?
Do you think Disney should also do this or do you think comics should always be a way to escape from the real world?

I think if you like Obama you'll probably like that he's in a Spiderman comic. If you don't like him, you won't. But the people?especially internationally?and the media are infatuated, so he's pretty much in and on everything these days.

I like Obama and I think its one of the stupidest things I've ever seen. I know many others who think the same thing. :P
The occasional gag is OK (I chuckled at the Breakfast of Champions nod to Obama and McCain - that was clever) but anything further than that? Leave the political overtones out of my duck and mice and speedy talking hedgehogs please.

I like Mr. Obama (at least in comparison to most the other politicians in the past 50 years). But I don't want to see a real-World person invade comic book stories. The art style reminds me of a Willy Mays Comic book I had in the early 1950s. At least the realistic, sports star comic and Classics Illustrated comics have their characters stay in their own World.

Well it depends, but don't forget: Disney comics have had real politicians, president actually: L&T of Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa. Teddy Roosevelt appears twice. Chapters 3 and 10.

I don't like that. either. It's bad enough to use "real" countries, and real historical figures. But, to use historical figures that were still alive not so long before I was born is too much. Calisota is a fictional place. and so is The Ducks' World. False names should be used (like Freddy Rosenfeld, and Marak Orama, Odama, Mopama, or the like). USA should not be a country in The Ducks' World. If those caricatures are used with false (albeit similar) names, they should resemble the human characters to a limited degree, but not be humans. They should be dog, pig or bird-faces.

I like Barack Obama (for now, anyway), and I think he should be kept out of commercial comics like Spider-Man. Certainly out of Duck and Mouse comics.
And I don't want to see George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H. Bush, Ronald Reagan, Jimmy Carter, Gerald Ford etc. etc. in Duck/Mouse comics either. And that list includes Teddy Roosevelt as well, Timo.

I like Barack Obama as well, but think comics should be free from real people. It's okay to place Duckburg in the USA at some unknown place but there shouldn't be real people in it.

I must admit that I don't want my duck universe polluted with "real life" politicians. Political topics as pollution, like when Barks made H,D and L oppose U$ in polluting the environment or when he commented on airpollution is allright, but these were statements done by the ducks.
Politicians as Icons, as opponents to the duckworld, should be caricatures and not looking like any dead or living person.
Might be okay in a MAD-magazine, but not here !

Some connection to real world is needed at least. Otherwise ducks would be uncomprehensible or dull. Scrooge went to Yukon, very real place, ducks have been in many real places, countries and witnessed real events. I like the connection of duck-world to "my" world.
But comics in general can be anything between full fantasy without any connection to the real world, to the extreme realism with real persons and events, political or non-political. Just like literature or movies. But that is slightly off topic.

If the Ducks' World is an alternative World to ours, in which people look a little like caricatures of "humanlike" animals, then why would we want to include real humans in with them. I didn't like Barks including humans in his Duck stories (in 1950-51).
