With all due respect to those proposing the idea -
Are you guys crazy? XD
heck no I wouldn't pay 20 bucks for a monthly book no matter how many the pages or how much I like the character. The reason I was forced to drop the books way back in high school when they went prestige is because I couldn't afford to shell out the extra budget thanks to the change then. People already complain about the books being expensive (without realizing or understanding that they're actually paying for the same price for two) - to do so again would be something akin to a death knell.
It's one thing for specialized trades to come with a larger cost, it's another thing for a quarterly or monthly book to come out with a trade paperbacks price. Not trying to rain on anybody's parade but that is insane. The point is to try and attract more people to the books, not to turn them into Scrooge McDucks that would otherwise balk at the cover price. ;)
I would much rather see gemstone try to focus on 3 books, quarterly specials, and maybe a special Trade Paperback or two or three along the way. That is more than sufficient until gemstone reaches the point where they can opt to do more. As far as page count goes, we're already getting 64 pages which is more than the Dell days of 52. (I remember my glee upon seeing the Disney books that had that "64 Pages!" piece of paper floating randomly on the cover ^__^)

WB You're right Disney Comics don't need to be more expensive than they already are. If anything I think they should made cheaper. I wish they would revert Walt Disney's Comics and Stories, and Uncle Scrooge back to standard format like they were during the first half of Gladstone's second run and before but obviously Gemstone's not going to do that despite how much more money they might make.

I suspect that if they were cheaper, they'd be unprofitable and would be canceled. The $8 cover price is unfortuate, but probably an economic necessity.

I actually believe in the 8.00 price. I am happy there are still Disneys out there to enjoy. There is a purity in them that I would pay for thru quality printing, good reprints, new stories and constant reliable publication. If it takes 8 bucks a go,... I am still there. I would rather pay 8 dollars for a disney comic than 8 dollars for a gallon of gas.

I agree completely. Lower cover prices would be nice, but I'm glad the books are still coming out.

We'd all like more pages for less money, but it just can't happen. I'm happy to pay the $8, and want a 3rd Prestige book per month for another $8.

I'm surprised I didn't think of that.
