Gawrsh! That "out of stock" message seems to suggest that Amazon had copies in the past and ran out, but I *know* they didn't... this is one of the books affected by our recent publication/distribution delay, and will actually be distributed for the first time next month. (It's now scheduled to ship January 30, which means it'll most likely be in shops the week after that.)
Thanks so much for bearing with us, guys.

Wow! That was a fast reply. Thanks for the info, David. I don't mind waiting. I still got a lot of Gemstone Disney comics to collect which unfortunately aren't available in Singapore.

I pre-ordered this on Amazon in December and received the following email from them today:
Quote:We are sorry to report that we will not be able to obtain the
following item(s) from your order:
Don Rosa (Author), et al "Walt Disney Treasures - Uncle Scrooge: A
Little Something Special"
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/188847288X
Though we had expected to be able to send this item to you, we've
since found that it is not available from any of our sources at this
time. We realize this is disappointing news to hear, and we apologize
for the inconvenience we have caused you.
We have cancelled this item from your order.
This is strange because the publication date of 30 January has been known for a while, but I guess not to Amazon. Too bad they didn't check this before cancelling my order.

Mysterious. The Gemstone gang and I will try to get to the bottom of this; but while I'm pretty sure the book will return to Amazon once it actually comes out, I somehow doubt already-cancelled orders can be automatically set back in motion.
A fine state of affairs, as Donald might acerbically put it...

Is this the only other Treasures banner comic so far? I have the one that came out in fall of 2006 that mixed various subjects. I never knew of any other until now.

The one in the fall you speak of was more "Comics and Stories" based - featuring all the characters. This one is more "Uncle Scrooge" based. I assume that if any more follow tangent we'll probably eventually get one concentrated on Donald and/or Mickey.
I for one wouldn't mind that. Nor would I mind seeing more of the Treasures Disney Comics trade paperbacks as greater breadth replacements to the old album series. :)

I think you guys are refering to the one below? Disney Comics - 75 Years of Innovation.

Yep. That's the one. As a fan of the Treasures DVDs I was glad to see that one last fall. I'll be snapping up this Uncle Scrooge title as soon as I can. I just wish it could start with his first appearance and go right through as the DVDs collect the cartoons. They also never mix the old with the new. It all has its own place but the more newer stuff has had its time in the sun so recently that it would be greater to have the Treasures reserved for old stuff not seen in print in years. Don't you agree?

I think the purpose of the treasures for the comics work VS the DVD's is more along a concept akin to DC's current "Showcase" books than anything else - I.E. the best of the best from a wide variety of creators including very rare gems new and old scattered here and there. A wide eclectic mix of good stuff.
At least thats how it should be anyway, ut so many people have so many different tastes. I'd love to see them do a Treasures series continue in a Egmont style "Hall of Fame" type book after they finish covering a Donald and Mickey trade and if they choose to continue this route, alternate between characters VS creators. That would REALLY make sense given the way the Treasures DVD's are currently set up.

But doesn't the Showcases go in chronological order?

Yeah, the Showcase Presents line is pretty much just DC's version of the Marvel "Essentials" series of trades. They reprint complete runs of the titles (or sometimes characters) they are covering in the original publishing order*. They aren't selective "best of" types of things. Actually, to the contrary, the Showcases actually tend to include *more* stuff than the Archives do, including neat side stuff like the character's guest-appearances in books like Brave and the Bold.
(* So far they have been reserving the Showcase Presents line for Silver Age or newer material, though. They said early on that the cost of doing the Golden Age stuff would be too high to do them in the Showcases.)

I think my preference would be for them to do maybe two of these "Disney Treasures" trades per year. One could be character based, like this Uncle Scrooge one (the next one could be Donald or Mickey). The other I would prefer to be more like the first one, with a more more broad selection of characters, but focusing on the early 1930s (including the newspaper strips) to late 1940s time period. In other words, the earliest stuff. I think that'd be pretty cool.

Me too. It all depends on Gemstone, whether they want or CAN do this.

Ditto
I kinda thought the Showcase thing was a bad analogy but I couldn't think of anything else to compare it to. Thanks for the clarification Youngtrek.
