My question on the DC Showcases is why is it too expensive to include Golden age stories because once they've been cleaned for the Archive series they need never be restored again. After a few years of being on the market in that format why couldn't they come out in Showcase editions? It would open them up to another audience and after so long everyone who's going to pay 50.00 a pop for them has done so. Why not make more money and do a mass trade after that?

Quote from user: AnemoAnybody bought this book yet? Seem its temporarily out of stock at Amazon. Sure hope they will restock. I'm planning to buy a copy.

Does anybody know which stories this contains besides "A Little Something Special" which I already have?

My subscription "Comics & Stories" and "Uncle Scrooge" have not yet arrived, and the only Disney comic book that arrived to my local shop last Wednesday was Ducktales (Marv Wolfman story). The 2nd "Treasures" didn't arrive, and neither did their 2nd order of Donald Duck "The Mummy's Ring"-which never came the first time they ordered it. I don't want to buy that directly, as the shipping cost for that one comic will be half again as much as the purchase price. I hope everything will arrive Wednesday.

So, is this book coming out or not?

I believe that there's a list of its stories at: http://www.gemstonecomics.com/default.asp
although, I didn't see it on the Home Page.

Well, Gemstone doesn't even list "Walt Disney Treasures - Uncle Scrooge: A Little Something Special" that I can find. And there doesn't appear to be a SEARCH tab that you can use.

And Amazon doesn't have much content info. other than listing authors/artists: http://www.amazon.com/Walt-Disney-Treasures-Scrooge-Something/dp/188847288X/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1202496447&sr=8-1

Hmmm, I don't know if I'll be paying $14 (incl. tax) (maybe less at Amazon) to buy a collection of re-printed stories that I already have. I think the Rosa cover might be a first-edition print so I can see buying it as a collectible in that sense...

In addition to Barks and Rosa, and Van Horn (?), it has a story drawn by Romano Scarpa, Marco Rota, Vicar and Cavazzano, according to the Amazon advert. Our own Lars Jensen has a story inside. It looks like a worthwhile purchase. I hope to buy mine tomorrow, along with the Marv Wolfman Ducktales epic book.
WB
Carl Barks - "The Seven Cities of Cibola"
Don Rosa - "A Little Something Special"
William Van Horn - "Windfall on Mount G'zoontight" (representing the Ducktales portion)
Tony Strobl - "Getting That Healthy, Wealthy Feeling" (The story that Rosa get's the #1 Dime origin from)
Marco Rota - "The Money Ocean" (complete and restored)
Romano Scarpa - Not quite sure
Giorgio Cavazzano - Not quite sure
Victor "Vicar" Rios - One of the earlier Egmont attempts to sequel "Back to the Klondike." I forget the story's name but its pretty nice.
Lars Jensen - "Whatever Happened to Scrooge McDuck?" (AMAZING story, the artworks not so hot at all but its one of those kind where the story makes up for it tenfold. Seriously, one of the best I've ever seen come from Lars)
I think the only major person Scrooge wise that does not seem to be represented is Daniel Branca. (Shame too, because if they had the room I'd love to see "The Green Attack" again.)

The only "major person" (meaning good "Duck Artist"?) not represented is Daniel Branca!!!??? So! You don't like Daan Jippes' work, eh? Freddy Milton?
WB
Now you know good and well that is not AT ALL what I meant Robb.
I figure Jippes/Milton etc etc will probably be reserved for a Donald Duck Treasures trade if one should come around. Also I forgot Tony Strobl to the list and edited my original post accordingly

It's arriving at your LCS on Feb 20, 2008.

And I can vouch for that??we've got our office copies in-hand today.
As re: absence of certain creators from the book, Branca (a creator whose Scrooge I personally love!) was unfortunately a victim of length limits. Do however watch for more of his stories in our comics soon... as well as those of Jippes and Milton, of course, whom WB correctly perceives us as associating more with Donald than Scrooge. As per present planning, it's Mickey's turn for a Treasures book this fall; but when Donald eventually gets his, you can bet there will be plenty of Jippes and Milton inside.

Yay! Cant wait to get my copy. Looking forward to the Mickey and Donald Treasure book. :)
