This was the first I'd heard of Swabbies, but it looks like it would have starred Mickey, Goofy, Clarabelle (sadly not Horace), as well as the Beagle Boys again in a non-Scrooge related role. Also, Donald in the navy, possibly a foreshadowing of his DuckTales fate. Not a direct sequel to Soccermania but would have been nice to see the classic characters again. Too bad it never happened.
Why was Alan Young not chosen to voice Scrooge in Soccermania, despite having performed the role in Mickey's Christmas Carol a few years earlier and in DuckTales a few years later? Another one of those mysteries that seem to have no answer!

There was also an episode, I believe of The Looney Tunes show, where Bugs and Daffy visit Daffy's uncle, who seems like a country bumpkin, prompting Daffy to remark, "What? Not all us ducks have rich uncles!"

Swabbies - The story found Mickey, Donald, and Goofy out of work, out of luck, and in need of a job. They enlist in the Navy and go to boot camp with Pete as their exasperated drill instructor. They meet their feminine counterparts??Minnie, Daisy and Clarabelle??who are all WAVES. After they put to sea, they encounter a submarine full of the Beagle Boys, who all speak a Russian-sounding gibberish. The entire film was storyboarded and recorded, and an animatic was created. Complete model sheets of all of the characters were printed, and layouts and some animation had begun before the project came to an abrupt halt.[23]
As the years gone by Clarabelle has been pinned more as a companion for Goofy, while the poor Horace gets left out. I'm always ecstatic when someone remembers Horace, like in 'Get A Horse.' Legend has itthat in the 90s a Horace-centered tv series was pitched to Disney and was passed on. I appreciated the Horace stories that Gemstone peppered through their run.
