"Neighbor Jones" first appeared drawn by Barks in his 1943 10-page Walt Disney's Comics & Stories (#34) story, "The Good deeds", as a much more doglike character (hound dog), who is tall and skinny, and not musclebound. He was still a contentious thorn in Donald's side. His design was changed drastically, in WDC & S #38 (only 4 issues later), where it would stay until 1954 (with the Jughead Jones story), only to be changed back to the later 1943 version, 10 years later, in 1964, in 2 separate WDC stories.
