That looks like the Beret Girl from An Extremely Goofy Movie.

Fethry was created before hippies existed. He's a beatnik.

Yes, I should have stated that he should talk like a "beatnik". I've passed through all those "fads" and "movements" and can't keep them all straight. But, like, man, Fethry talking like a Beatnik, man that would be cool, man, cool! Like wow!

You know what they should've done? For once, in the very beginning (1964) they should've made the first non "regular-suit" character in Disney comics. By that I mean, that Fethry should be the satire of the latest craze. So, next to eternal sailor-suit Donald, there's Beatnik Fethry (60s), Disco Fethry (70s), Eighties Fethry (80s), Grunge Fethry (90s) and Modern Fethry (00s). The only problem that would give is when reprinting old stories where Fethry would look really outdated. But well, Fethry is still a beatnik in the 2010s, so there isn't much difference.

Quote from user: ChabacanoHi, MrCleveland! Yeah, it certainly is interesting. But, as I said before, she's not exactly a hippie. I mean she doesn't live in an isolated community in contact with Mother Nature. She's quite urban indeed! She's the perfect match for Fethry, 'cos she understands his eccentric behavior.
Hmm...Urban Hippies...I call those guys "Bohemians".

Trust me, I work in Theater at times and they have Bohemian Opinions, but hey...there were Hippies in San Francisco, which is an urban area.

P.S. Chabacano: your avatar is the best picture of Fethry I've seen in a long, long time, I love it! Couldn't have done better myself. ;)

Oh, thank you! I've chosen this one without thinking too much about it. I just put the word 'Paperoga' on Google Image Search and voila! That's a good tip: if you want to find good and rare images of the ducks, search images of them using their respective Italian, Norwegian or Germany names.

Bohemian = ( usually lowercase ) a person, as an artist or writer, who lives and acts free of regard for conventional rules and practices. (source: http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/bohemian)

Yeah, I think Gloria was presumably supposed to be a kind of bohemian girl, really. However, Brazilian cartoonists hardly explored this side of her personality in the comics 'cos they know they live in a very traditional and male chauvinist country, even in the crazy 70's, when she came out. She was simply portrayed as a nice and urban girl who wears hippie clothes and has 'hippie' (cough, cough) fellows. But a girl who owns a flat full of things inside of it and acts like a bossy girlfriend cannot be labeled as a hippie in my opinion. Not to mention she has a superheroine secret identity! Hippies don't fight against crime using crazy weapons and punch, right? Oh, and there is a story where she appears practing jogging (B 840094)!

You're very welcome. I always liked Fethry and love it when I see a picture of a favorite character with strong draftmanship. :)

That's the sort of expression I like on him: loveable and zonked. LOL! ;)

I know almost nothing about her, so this was very illuminating. Thanks, Chabacano.

I've often wondered, what's the origin of the name "Fethry"? Was it supposed to be derived from feathery? If so, why not simply call him Feathery?

Ha! Ha! No! Feathery should have been a Punk on the '80s, or was that the 90s? Bur I DO like the idea of Feathery continuing to chase new fads, from one to another.
