Hmmm...I don't think any company is publishing Disney comic books in English right now, unfortunately. Except for the large, hardbound collections that Fantagraphics is doing. But no comic books of the normal paperback type are being published, unless I'm mistaken.

Gooey is right. The Fantagraphics volumes are excellent, I'm sure you could get some on eBay. As an American I've actually started reading some French ones due to the lack of English publications.

No English books from the Indian Egmont publisher? No publisher in Hong Kong, or Singapore? I know that our Dutch books sell in South Africa. So, the Afrikaners read Disney Comics, but not the English speakers there? Same for English-speaking Canada, while Quebec imports French Disney books there?
No Australia and New Zealand Disney Comics, while The Faroe Islands have ther own Disney Comics publisher??? The World has gone crazy!!!!
No English -published Disney Comics in Gibraltar, Fiji, Belize, Guyana, Mauritius, or The Falkland Islands?

It is sad that are no Disney Comics here in America or anywhere else that speaks English not include the special collections by Fantagraphics. I hope that some company will publish them again here in America.

Saturday, May 3rd, is Free Comic Book Day at most comic book stores in the United States. They will have an all Don Rosa comic with 2 different covers available for free!

There are some European pocket books in English, published in Norway and Germany, I think. Don't think they're available as digital comics (online), though.

You know, changing the subject a little bit, but I'm genuinely interested as to how Marvel writers would write Duck and Mice Disney comics. It may not be for everyone, but I think if they took some risks once in a while, experimented more, that you would get something pretty great out of it.
Especially if they modernised it more (like, much more). I mean, they do now, but it's still pretty tame. If you look how much Gottfredson's comics reflect their time, or Strobl's, compared to what we have now.
Just some musings.

Marvel publishes Disney Seekers of the Weird right now and is planning more books based upon Space Mountain and other rides / resort themes. Disney Books is putting out a Frankenweenie graphic novel in May. Nothing in terms of the standard characters like the ducks or Mickey is being published or planned at the moment.

Honestly, I would be sort of unhappy if they modernized the stories. One thing I love about Rosa's stuff is that, although it still feels current in many ways, he is careful to make it all align with the 1950s. I mean, I guess modernized stuff would probably still be better than nothing.

I'm not much of a fan of core Disney comics, as they can feel painfully same-y. Barks, Gottfredson and Rosa are the artists I like, probably because I'd like them even if they worked with different characters. So I am of the opinion that a radical change, like modernization, would be a huge and useful shot in the arm to create better, more interesting stories that are not stuck in the same mold. You don't have to modernize the setting, not really, but you can. It's the introduction of modern storytelling techniques that's missing for me.

This whole line of thinking, as some may know, strikes me as decidedly...ominous. And when we're talking about pulling in writers/artists with no prior interest in or experience with the characters...*shudder.* I can't really be the only one who remembers those risible Ducktales serials from the early nineties, can I?
Still: can someone provide some concrete examples of what "modernization" would entail? Because the problem may be that I seriously have no idea what people are talking about/thinking of here.

Please please PLEASE don't buy Disney stuff from comixology. Their English scripts are insulting, grotesque mockeries, only barely in English, shoveled out by people who very obviously don't care even a tiny bit about the form, never mind the people they're ripping off with this garbage.
