What you guys think about that?As fan of classic "Cartoon" i really have bad feelings that they destroy one of my favourite cartoon by "Hybrid CG and actors" maybe it's going to be suprisingly good but...i hoped for full cartoon movie.

I would way rather have a cartoon one, but maybe this will turn out as good as the Muppets movie from a couple of years ago, which I expected to hate but actually enjoyed. They managed to use the cheesiness in that to their advantage, so hopefully the same thing will happen here.
I'm not going to get my hopes up though.

Tentatively excited. This is pretty hard to screw up, since you basically have to do a funny version of a spy-ish movie. The chemistry's down pat. The only problem I can see happening is if we've got a human focused cast, ala The Smurfs. Humans are boring, unnecessary, and of zero value in scripts like that, and really just shows a lack of faith in the characters. I've seen it work once or twice I think, but... yeah, usually you just get The Smurfs.
(For the record, the first Chipmunks movie is at least fairly solid)
The people behind this are respectable. And who knows what it might lead to? I seem to recall Tad Stones saying he'd want to do a CGI Darkwing Duck movie...

So you say, but the previews made it look like death warmed over, and it has a less-than-respectable twenty-seven percent rating on rottentomatoes.
Never, ever trust a trailer. There are good ones out there, yeah, but so many of them are garbage that it's not worth looking up from your phone before the movie starts.

Have you seen the trailers for Frozen? I have seen more appetizing things that had been chewed on by rats, but the movie itself is one of the best I've ever seen.

The first Chipmunks movie, for the most part, kind of ignored the majority of the source material in favor of showing a movie about a guy who isn't terribly likeable, but has to learn to be a better person so he can be a dad. It's about exploitation in the music industry, and how it's easy to dehumanize people of talent til we see nothing but their talent. Got some good pathos going on there, too.

On a technical level the animation is fine, I suppose. There's something in there for adults and kids, and I freely admit the stuff for kids are a bunch of really easy, softball jokes. Nothing about it is terribly offensive, it's just not anything special. I can't bring myself to recommend it except as an experiment about how to make a total jerk become likeable.

Anyway, we've seen nothing other than "It is a movie with Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers, probably an origin, mix and match live action and CGI." So I'm not gonna be terribly down on it at this point.

I think Frozen's marketing made me look at it as an equally awful train crash. Like... The Smurfs level bad. If I could find the guy who asked the trailers be cut that way, I would punch him in the nose. I find it actively offensive.

Yup. I can't recommend the movie, but I can't dissuade anyone from seeing it either. My most effusive praise to the movie is "I actually did care about what was happening" and "Nothing about it struck me as horrible." Which is a lot more than I can say for many, many other movies, to be fair.

Still... what I want to hear is the director say the magic words of "We want this CG to feel as real as Roger Rabbit." If they shoot for the stars, I'm happy.

I know the Lego Movie's getting good reviews and that I should probably just shut up, but the previews I've seen just make it look HORRIBLE. I think this particular brand of pop-culture riffing that everyone else is apparently so keen on just doesn't work for me.
(Yes, I'm aware of the irony of me saying a thing like this RIGHT AFTER a discussion of how previews often aren't representative. But BAH, I say!)

The preview of "The Lego Movie" make it look lousy to me as well. But, then, I'm not someone whose taste should be considered, as the last animated film I really liked a lot was made in the 1940s, and I worked on films, myself, as late as the late 1990s. And one of my best friends worked for Lego (painting paintings for their box covers).
