Some weeks ago I bought the first volume of the Gottfredson Sundays. It´s a fantastic issue and I want to thank David Gerstein and his team for this marvellous publication. For me it´s (together with Italian Topolino 3000 and the Italian comic book "Le inedited follie inglesi" which collects all the pre-Barks William Ward comics of Donald and Mac the Sailor) the Disney comic book of the year!

Volume 1 of the Sundays is wonderful indeed! The Gottfredson collection has been a dream come true for me, one that just keeps getting better and better.

Haven't got it yet, but I can't wait to! I'm most likely just going to get the box set of Sundays

Thanks so much, all. The two Sunday books were easily the most difficult we've had to put together??some of the line art stats were in bad condition; others didn't exist at all. Lots of research and restoration work was needed; source materials came not only from Burbank, but all around Europe.
It's such a relief to have all of this great, important material restored for good, and it's a thrill to know our readers enjoy it as much as we do! The extra features in Sundays Vol 1 also required some special effort... and we had so many that there were even a couple left over!

I was looking for the box set on Amazon UK, and I found the image used for it somewhat peculiar:

That shouldn't be on there (yet), should it? ;)
EDIT: The American version has it too.

That's almost the strangest error I've ever seen??we'll see about bringing it down to size. (As some of you may have guessed, that image really belongs... here!

Oh man, is it really gonna be all grey-scale like that? Pretty intense!

I like that image for the next daily strip collection. The image of Mickey Mouse on that cover looks like it was taken from from the Dell Four Color cover art. Did Floyd Gottfredson draw that? I'm looking forward to reading The Phantom Blot again, and seeing it in its original black and white form for the first time.

No??but it's arguably the most iconic image of Mickey associated with that story, so for right now we're trying it out. (Feedback?)

I already ordered Box Set of Gittfredson library Vol 3-4 (which was stated to be the first 2 volumes of the Colour Sunday Pages. It had a different split cover of the 2 volumes shown. Is that something different from this hard-cover two volume set with "Mickey Meets The Phantom Blot" on the cover? I am confused. I don't want to miss out on buying ALL the stories as soon as possible, but don't want to buy any volume twice. Can someone please clarify what these different offerings actually are?

Personally, I think it works.
BTW, one item you might look into including when the serial "Bellhop Detective" comes up is "Mickey Mouse and the Seven-Colored Terror" (if only in excerpts if you don't want to run the whole story). Many of the supporting players in that comic book story were copied from Gottfredson's story, but given different names.

Quote from user: Robb_KI already ordered Box Set of Gittfredson library Vol 3-4 (which was stated to be the first 2 volumes of the Colour Sunday Pages.
The box set of Gottfredson Library Vol 3-4 is visible here (Fantagraphics webpage) and here (Amazon). We have never stated that it contains the two volumes of color Sunday pages. It contains Vols 3 and 4 of the Gottfredson dailies.
The two volumes of color Sunday pages have a separate numbering (Color Vol 1 and 2) and also a separate box set. The order pages for this box set are here (Fantagraphics webpage) and here (Amazon). BUT...
As of the time I'm writing this, the Amazon page for the Sunday box set erroneously illustrates the cover to a different item: Vol 5 of the Gottfredson dailies, featuring "Mickey Mouse Outwits the Phantom Blot," which actually has its own Amazon page??where that cover is really supposed to go. (Fantagraphics is trying to have Amazon fix this now.)

Inspired by this page I now at last ordered my first Fantagraphics Mickey Mouse Gottfredson daily strips Volumes 1&2, 3&4 and pre-order Sunday strips Volume 1&2.
Regretably I do not read my old Swedish Gottredson editions from the 1970's often enough due to the big clumsy format, but with only three strips per page I hope the Fantagraphic books will be far more eye appealing although a bit thick volumes.
Anyhow it will be very nice to, for the first time, be able to read those highest class of Disney comics in a high quality appearance . Thank you !

Thanks. I see that I already have Gottfredson Library Volumes 3-4, and I had already ordered The Color Sundays Vol. 1-2. But the advert on Amazon originally had a different cover. And now, wit the "Phantom Blot" cover placed instead of it, I thought it was a different book.
