Quote from user: BenadiktBecause of my curiosity I bought the 4 German issues two years ago. They look terrible compared to Barks art. There is absolutely NO REASON to buy these, except If you are collecting every single issue where Barks has been involved just a little bit.
I am also curious as to how the seeds for this project were sown. Was it thought that Japanese audiences would not like Barks' art for some reason?

Fooiee! I think they'd have been better off getting Barks' drawings in Japan.

cacou has already shown one page; I can show some more examples when I have found the books from the boxes where they are stored.

Cacou, thanks for posting a page.
The isn't even close to Barks design and script. And not close to any manga I know. No wonder the stories got not printed often.

Nevertheless, I'd like to see them all. I am curious about the different artists they used.

The start of The Mad Chemist

Page 3 and 4 of Something Fishy

And two pages of really weird art from The Mighty Duck

Thanks for making the photos. The first pages are not very special - just a little bit irregular panel design. The last one is really weird. But non of the pages remind me of manga art. For me manga is special in panel layout and style of drawing. And the second did not change here.

I have a reprint of the Original Version of The Mad Chemist in Donald Duck Adventures (Gladstone Series) #15 and the original version of Mighty Duck in Walt Disney Giant #3 although technically it wasn't Carl Barks who wrote that story it was Tony Strobl and Huey Dewey and Louie weren't in that version.
