Was it beer or water in the original version of this story (I TL 602-AP)? Birra o acqua? There are two different versions in Finland publications, in older one they swim in beer and in newer one it's water. Is this censorship?

Isn't it normal with vintage water in barrels? ;)
The censorship in this story is mentioned here on papersera.net.

Ha! Ha! THIS coming from the country in which the children grow up drinking wine instead of water, and table wine is served automatically with any restaurant or home-cooked meal as water is in USA!!!!! If this situation isn't ironic, I don't know what is! Perhaps it's a case of The French editors bending over backwards to make sure that The Disney Co. doesn't accuse them of ruining Disney's image as "family entertainment" (knowing that The French have "wine in their veins" and Disney would be looking for such a careless "error". Still, it's quite a funny (and unbelievable) situation.
Thanks, Arild.

Unfortunately, this kind of censorship is quite common. For instance, I have two editions of this story:
http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL++303-AP
http://coa.inducks.org/hr.php?image=http://outducks.org/fr/mpp/fr_mpp_0772d_001.jpg&normalsize=1
The German and the Norwegian one. And in the Norwegian edition all guns (the evil guy uses a tommy-like machine-gun to threaten Mickey and freinds) were just erased (?), leaving blank spaces, which is just hilarious and infinitely stupid.

Another case of censorship. Panel 4 is drawn by Giuseppe Perego (Paperin Babá by Luciano Bottaro and Carlo Chendi; I TL 273-A), maybe the alteration was made for Ehapa? German editors made a lot of these kinds of "corrections" in the late 1960's. What was in the original version? Beagle Boys ready to cut the throats of Donald and Gladstone? Is the original panel presented in German donaldists' book Ehapa durchleuchtet: Manipulative Eingriffe in die deutschen Disney-Comics?

I stand by my point that Disney comics is NOT soft kiddy stuff. So this type of censorship is really ridiculous.

BTW I think the alteration was made for the Classici reprint in Italy, not Ehapa, because that panel looks a lot like Perego's work. The original is much better and stronger.
