Quote from user: DebbieThe first Mickey Mouse volume is a piece of pop-culture history and even if you don't read it first, I would personally consider it a must-have book. People who think Mickey is too much of a nicey-nice character should definitely seek out volumes one and two to see the early Mickey. [...] You're reading the groundwork for the entire Disney comics industry in Vol. 1, so there are going to be missteps and ideas that get abandoned later. Vol. 1 is one of my favorite Disney books ever printed for the reasons I've pointed out here.
It's my favorite, too, for many of the same reasons. And for the opportunity it gave our team to reprint a lot of wonderful, early bonus content. And for the chance to remaster and clean up the 1930-31 strips from the best available materials, which in many cases had never been used for a modern reprint before. Leonardo Gori and Cole Johnson provided some incredible finds.
The fact that the book even happened still gives me a warm feeling inside??the day I first held a copy, I'll admit I was kinda bouncing around my neighborhood Mickey-style. (Kat Nipp, hands off my tail.)
