Hello,
Does anyone know if there are Ducks comics being released in English? In USA they are canceled but hopw about Canada? UK? Australia? or any other English speaking country?

As far as I know, the only English language Disney Comics still being published are in India, AND, the German English translations in their Taschenbücher (thick pocketbooks).
Canada just received US Gladstone, Gemstone and Boom! publications, as well as French language issues (from Hachette?). UK, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand no longer have their own publishers, South Africa just g

Other countries in Europe have adapted the German English pocket books as well.
And statistically speaking, Disney comics are still being published in the US. Exactly four of them per year.

Are you saying that other European pocketbooks contain whole stories written in English (just as the Germans do)? THAT is the point of concern here.

These are actually no translations. The books use Egmont produced stories only which are written in English anyway.

Are Disney titles still being published in India? The history of Disney comics in that country is patchy and they've had several different publishers. Do they print European material, Barks/Murry reprints, or original stories? Is there a website for their Disney line?

Well, I'm saying that other countries have copied the German pocket books with their Egmont-scripts literally, and only changed the German text to their own language. These other countries, by the way, are Norway, Finland and the Netherlands. Germany started in July 2009, the Netherlands followed suit in October 2010, and later Finland joined in July 2011 and Norway joined in August 2011.

Yes, I (and many others here) knew that. The purpose of this post by the original poster was to find out what countries' publishers currently publish Disney Comics in the ENGLISH language. So, only the German super-giant pocketbooks with their English stories are pertinent to his query.

I can confirm that Piscou magazine is available in Canada. For around five or six Canada-bucks. En francais only though, obviously. Makes me want to brush up on my elementary-school French...

Yes. It would be nice for you to be able to speak with ALL of your countrymen (not just 2/3)! I took French in school. Many of my Winnipegger schoolmates took German or Russian, instead. Not very patriotic, eh?

Noooo, the other countries also have English language stories in those pocket books. They're exactly the same as the German books. But in the back of all these books, there's a list of difficult words, translated English-German in the original. That's the only part that has changed. It's the only part of the book that's in German. In the Norwegian version, the vocabulary list is English-Norwegian. The STORIES are in English. In every book. That's the point of that specific line of pocket books.

That's very nice to hear. So, English speakers have at least a few books to obtain, in which they can get access to some stories, now that there is no American publisher. And, even when Marvel starts up, those people may want to buy the English European pocketbooks. So, DDvU, are those pocketbook stories in the 4-tier format, or the Italian-style 3-tier format? Are the stories ALL produced by Egmont, rather than Disney Italia? Are the artists mainly or all from the Spanish Studios? What are the typical page lengths of the stories?

To answer my own question ... here's the website of the publisher that was announced in 2009 as carrying the Disney line in India ...

http://www.diamondcomic.com/

... and no mention of any Disney titles that I can see.

And here's a somewhat sparse entry that describes the history of Disney comics in India ...

http://www.comicology.in/2009/04/media-article-disney-comics-back-in.html

Does anyone have an update on the current status of Disney comics in India? This assumes importance since we're told that India is one of the few countries still publishing English Disney classic titles.

Incidentally, I have to point out that that's a really off-model, out-of-character He-Man on the cover of their first issue ... looks like he's threatening Skeletor with a lightning bolt or something ...

The Egmont-related Disney Franchisee published mainly European stories, as I found out about them from our own Mr. Ramapith, who found me an issue with one of my stories in three different language versions (comic books), English, Hindi and Gujrati. That particular issue didn't have any old American stories in it. But I can't speak about all their issues' content. Maybe David can? I suspect that Egmont-produced material formed the bulk of the stories. I have no idea what stories were(are being) used by the Diamond-related Franchisee. Nor do I know if they are still publishing their books, or if they have stopped. Nor do I know anything else about the Diamond books. My only experience is with the Egmont-related books.

Funny you should mention the Indian comics, because just last week I was looking up stories about lake monsters a la Nessie, and found one called "Who's the Monster?" with script written by David Gerstein himself! Cool!, I thought. Maybe it's been published in French! Drat, I thought. Not in French. Hey, I exclaimed, but it's been published in English! Drat, I thought, only in India. Mickey Mouse Digest 59. I'm afraid I'm not going to find *that* on any eBay any time soon. :(
