Topic: How to use the upload tool

Robb_K asked me in private how to use the upload tool on this website.
You should first go to this page
http://dcf.outducks.org/contrib/upload.php
NB: there is a link to this same web page at the bottom of (nearly) all pages on the DCF website, named "upload tool".
Select the image file you want to upload and click on "upload". You will then see something like:

You simply need to copy & paste the bold text into your message, where you want your image to appear. The image will show as a clickable thumbnail (with the click leading to the full resolution image). Common supported image formats are PNG/JPEG/GIF.
Using the DCF upload tool ensures that images stay available over time (something that is not granted on other popular image upload services). That said you are free to use external images websites if you like.
Obviously make sure that you have the legal rights to distribute your image(s) through this forum.

That is actually really useful information, thank you! It is kind of aggravating when there is a picture of a topic that you're interested in just for it to be no longer available, ugh. Not to mention that most photo uploading websites take forever for me to load whenever I want to upload something myself.

That is my point exactly. If you go to the first page of the "Show off your art" thread, with the oldest messages, there are already some broken images, because they were removed by Imageshack.
If you use the upload tool, the images are saved on the same server as this forum, and will be removed only when there is a good reason for that.

(Robb_K: I saw that you posted images today using imageshack. No problem with that however if you need additional help, feel free to ask).
