Today I went to buy some "Gigant Poleca" (the polish monthly magazine that prints Itallian Disney stories)
Among some decent but overall average stories I fond this jewel :

...and I must admit I didn??t laugh out loud so much from reading a Duck story in a long, long time.

The premise of the story is basically a Stephenie Meyer??s ??Twilight" parody and for me this is a perfect example of spoof/satire of a book/movie done right. Now I only read the first ??Twilight" book and let??s just say I didn??t found it very appealing, but I still respect people who like this stuff. Heck, even the comic points out how it??s just as silly as some other stuff out there (??Avatar" , ??Transformers") only it??s more female-oriented.

In the comic Daisy and Brigitta are writing their own vampire novel which basically is ??Twilight" version of our Duckburg friends?¦ with Daisy as Bella Swan (here named Della Kwan), Donald as Edward and Scrooge more-or-less taking the role of Bella??s father from the book. Ow, and what a surprise - Paperetta Yè-Yè appears as the psychic vampire-chick ?? nice to see her used by modern artist (I believe it??s first time in years somebody used here for more then a cameo)

I was pleasantly surprise how Roberto Gagnor script throws in almost every possible reference (ok, they ignore the whole werewolf plot line but still) and I must say most of the jokes are dead on from over-the top romantic narration to Daisy/Bella??s fascination with Donald/Edward, here inter monologs and even pokes the fun from the whole ??teenage dilemmas" thing. I love one scene when Daisy go to Scrooge and gives him a darn long speech about how she like to have a deep conversation with him about her ??fears of becoming a mature women (duck?)" and Scrooge just say ??No." and Daisy just reply ??Aha" with a very blank expression. The way I??m describing it is not as funny but the way it play in the comic is just priceless.

The whole thing is very over the top in the way story is moving. There are some neat absurd little touches as well. At one point a guy riding a bike is a bout to hit Daisy and he actually turns to audience smiling and say ??Hi! I??m a stunt double and I??m about to do something incredible dangerous with my irresponsible behavior!" Grigio Cavazzano art is pretty good adding some humor with over the top expressions.

The story also makes a bow to people who hates ??Twilight" with some cynical touches. There is scene when Daisy and Donald kiss in a forest (with all possible cute animals watching them) which is join by some very corny narration (??It was the most touching kiss of all the touching history of the touching kisses . Dellas world spin around here. Was it love? Or was it the spinach from the school cafeteria? No! It must been love...") and cuts to Daisy and Brigitta in front of the laptop crying from happines of what ??High art" they creating. I also like when we have the "epic fight" betwen the vampire clan which just cut to Brigitta saying "And then they fight for 62 pages..."

I guess my only complain is that I didn??t like the final joke that much and I wish the story went a little bit longer but I guess if something makes you want to see more is a very good thing In deed.

I strongly recomend this story for a good laugh... :)
