Hey gang,
I just received notice that the Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck Volume 2 is out of print. Was this book ever actually released? I have had it on order from Diamond, through my LCS, for several months and never received a copy. I am a little disheartened as I wanted to get the book signed/remarked by Mr. Rosa on his next trip through the Midwest. Mr. Rosa was very kind to do so on my first volume copy. Any ideas or thoughts about this volume? Am I totally out of luck?

Thanks, Chip! I will try another LCS for Volume 3, or just go directly through Boom Studios.

Only if Marvel gets a license to do so. At this moment, we have no idea who will get the Standard Characters license (or even a limited "Life of Scrooge" license).

The biggest difference between the two is that the Boom Studio release is uncensored. For example, in The Buckaroo of the Badlands, Disney wouldn't allow guns to be pointed directly at anyone so there were a lot of humorous threats going around with finger pointing since the guns had to be removed. Gemstone used the Gladstone run version for their release where as Boom Studio left the guns in. I know there are more examples, but this is the one that jumps to mind.

I just checked Inducks and they mention the censoring in Uncle Scrooge 287, but not in the Gemstone release. I thought it was still censored. When I get home tonight, I will look to confirm or refute this.

The Gemstone books have the guns, too. The only gunless editions are the Gladstone 1990s printings.

As per differences between Gemstone and Boom, Charlie Brown already noted the problem with page numbers given in the articles. The other most significant difference I'm aware of is as follows:

In the Gemstone LO$ and Companion, both "King of the Klondike" and "Hearts of the Yukon" are accompanied by full-page presentations of D 11709, the cover Rosa drew for Ehapa's ONKEL DAGOBERT VON DON ROSA 4.
In Boom's LO$ Vol 2 and Companion, the equivalent pages instead show ARC WDG 1, the similar cover that Rosa drew for Gladstone's WALT DISNEY GIANT 1. By accident, Boom's Companion still identifies this as the Ehapa cover.

I was just curious why they were redrawn/remade/changed.
Sorry if I'm missing something, but to me those examples don't look as if they've been redrawn by Rosa; they look like they have been reformatted later by individual publishers. I would imagine this is so as to fit their individual cover styles/logos/etc (I know Gladstone/Gemstone used to often comment on how they had to modify cover art for American editions in view of the titles, UPC symbols, et. al.), but that's just a guess.
