Quote from user: MatildaHa! I couldn't read this thread on Sunday, because Irene had deprived me of power, but I assure you that on Sunday evening I read (by flashlight) "Old Froggie Catapult," as the hurricane story of choice.
I hope you and your home survived without damage.
Quote from user: MatildaIt's actually one of my top ten favorite Barks ten-pagers, perhaps even #2 after "The Screaming Cowboy." I'm a sucker for the small, oversensitive loser saving the day.
"The Screaming Cowboy" is also one of my favorite ten-pagers, although I read it for the first time late in my life.

William Van Horn's art doesn't usually remind me of Barks', but it I was struck by how much Donald looks like he might have been drawn by Van Horn in that first panel.

Big tree down in the backyard, but happily, it didn't land on anyone's house or garage, thank you for your kind thoughts!

Yes, isn't the Screaming Cowboy great? So many different wonderful elements (the song, the avalanches, the mysterious hermit, the other Woodchucks), it feels like you'd need more than ten pages to fit them all in. I bought the CD re-issue of the Disney album "Pardners" in order to get their version of the whole song. But the best thing about this is, I found out about this album from the Finnish English-language issue of "The National Donaldistic Magazine" (Feb 2009) by Timo Ronkainen, which has an article titled "Screaming Cowboy Donaldist Anthem"! (There are also German, Danish, Swedish and Finnish versions of the song, with additional lyrics, all set to different music.) You see, we Americans need the Finns to fill us in on our Duckburg heritage.
