In Italian stories, even Pete has a wife/girlfriend. She's called Trudy.

I forgot about that part and I have Mickey's Dangerous Double in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #s 683 and 684.

Quote from user: SimQuote from user: Roger NorthChief O' Hara had a son? I didn't know that. Is O' Hara supposed to be his first name or last name?
In Italy, O'Hara is "Basettoni" and is first name is "Adamo" (Adam).

Anyway, these are from Walsh and Gottfredson's Mickey's Dangerous Double (1950s).

O'Hara mentions his wife (recurrent character in Italy called "Petulia").

... and a five-month son called "O'Hara Junior".

In this second panel, O'Hara says "me own" instead of "my own". Actually, the original was full of this "Irishisation"; like "belave" instead of "believe" and "yiz" instead of "you".

I think Mouseton police were all (or almost) thought to be Irish: O'Hara, Casey, Finnegan, McDougall, etc...

On a similar note, did neighbor Jones ever get a first name? I rememer J. Jones from Barks comics, but as far as I know a first name in English is never given. In Dutch, however, he's called Bertus Bolderbast. And I haven't got a clue what a Bolderbast is.

Wasn't he referred to as "Jughead Jones" in a Barks story? I imagine it never caught on because of another popular contemporary character by the same name owned by a different publishing company ....

In a 1954 Uncle Scrooge secondary story, Barks had a neighbour to Donald that looked a little bit like "Neighbour Jones", but wasn't as fat, not as "doglike", and was missing his signature thick eyebrows. It is not known for sure, (at least, officially) whether or not Barks intended "Jughead Jones" to be the same "Neighbour Jones" as Donald had had next door to him in the early 1940s. But, when I asked him about that very question, he answered that he must have had him in mind, and intended him to be Donald's same neighbour, but made the mistake of not going back to his older character for a model, to draw him again. Unfortunately, he made him so very different, that we absolutely CANNOT claim he is the same man, but could be a relative of his (perhaps a first cousin, or even his younger brother. I prefer to "guess" that the thick-browed J. Jones' first name is John Jones, and the younger brother or cousin is Jughead Jones.
