Hi everyone,
Just wanted to let you know about our brand new Disney Comics fan page on Facebook. Not sure how many of you are Facebook users, but we would love it if you would stop by now and then and liven up the discussion tab there. It's a lot of fun reading all the DCF threads about obscure stories, favorite characters, etc., and it would be great to bring some of that verve to FB since it's for fans. On our part, we'll keep it fresh with links to comics previews and reviews but the rest is all yours. :)
It takes a few thousand fans before verification and the shorter URL that comes with it, so for now this is the link:

I joined that fan page as well... and invited all my Facebook friends.
Jesse, perhaps you could write about yet-to-be-published stories (or branded series) as they are being produced. I'd love to see some sketches or snippets from manuscripts.
Or perhaps post a complete comic book story once in a while. I know you've written at least one Robin Hood story. How about letting us see it?

I don't believe that either the site or the Twitter Account are still active. No posting since last November, that's a total no-go for a commercial site. I wouldn't count on seeing any news there in the near future. (But maybe they will reactivate it once they're Marvel?)

Hi Jano (and everyone) -- you're right that it has been inactive and I apologize for not updating you sooner. Around November I switched the management of both accounts over to the marketing department for our vertical publishing operation since we are now publishing most of the comics in-house. (I only manage licensed comics.) I'm not sure what plans they have in-store, but here's to hoping both are kept alive and full of news and previews. I agree that Facebook would be a great place to announce and showcase upcoming stuff.

Lars -- I would love to showcase some of those older comics for those who haven't seen them! If I can figure out a way to post them somewhere officially I will. Maybe even here if it's possible.
Those Robin Hood stories were fun and kids loved them -- we got lots of letters, most from kids who had never seen the movie. We got a similar response when we published new Dr. Syn comics and Kirby's old Black Hole adaptation. The best part of publishing for children is that what's old hat to us is always new to them.

Great. There are lots of exciting but (unfairly) half-forgotten Disney characters out there. The more exposure they get, the better.

I've written only one Jungle Book story myself, but for me a highlight of 2003 was to see Baloo, Bagheera etc. come to life in one of my stories. (Don't bother uploading that story, though. :) )

And from what I hear Disney Adventures tied Dr. Syn in with Pirates of the Caribbean, which is a great way of bringing back an otherwise unusable, shelved character like Dr. Syn.
Of course, now I want Disney to establish that the Ian McShane Blackbeard used in PotC 4 is the same as the Peter Ustinov Blackbeard seen in Disney's 1968 movie "Blackbeard's Ghost"...

Of course, this is non-canonical, as very soon afterwards we cranked up the official Pirates mythology. So anyone who has those back issues has an interesting Disney artifact! Bret then went on to illustrate our all-new Dr. Syn stories -- fully painted, I might add. Fantastic work. Most of the readers hadn't yet read a story involving a hero with a secret identity so they were floored.

It was indeed used in Disney Adventures (David Gerstein got me a copy back then), but I wrote the story for Egmont -- for their Animal Friends book (or whatever it's called).
