I view Donald's primary villain as himself! I agree that Donald is kind of the everyman character and in fact that is while Donald is my favorite character. While I also love Scrooge and other Disney characters, Donald will always remain my favorite as by far he is the character I relate with to most. Donald's anger, fear, jealousy, pettiness, pride, etc. are the things that does him in the most. I don't think most people have any real *villains* in their lives. In my life I have done far more bad things to myself than any other person I know. I imagine that is true in most people's lives.

Donald Ault wroe an essay, "Comic Karma", for the Carl Barks Library, which was reprinted in the second volume of the WDC1S Library in Color, if I am not mistaken.

Wak! The correct spelling of his surname should really be "Sharky"??but it got changed in the lettering of Rosa's sequel.
We'll fix it in our upcoming reprint.

For the same reason Homer Simpson doesn't have any supervillains! He's your everyman, Average Joe character.

I could agree with this, although it does depend on the writer's handling of Don's character.

By the way, I realize I'm bumping a REALLY old topic, but there's something neat that nicely contributes to this topic; Don Rosa's depiction of every villain Donald Duck face on his own in the "Four Color" comics, by Barks. Enjoy:

Cool picture, though I must question the characterization of Madame Triple-X as a "villain."

The only reason I can think of that justifies her inclusion: She IS mistaken to be a villain by Don and HDL for most of the story. The real mastermind, Bruto, is only present in mention, and putting El Quacko there would have spoiled "Dangerous Disguise" for those that have yet to read it.

I assume the vast majority of Rosa's booth attendants are big Duck fans already, but there's always the possibility of the uninitiated just passin' by, going "Hey, that Duck Tales man has some pretty cool drawings on display! Mister, where did that king gnome/knight/woman in red come from?"

This may seem far-fetched, yeah...then again, Rosa's depiction of Madame Triple-X is both cool and interesting enough to forgive her questionable inclusion, I'll say.

EDIT: Trivial nitpicking can only be countered with more trivial nitpicking! Notice how Madame Triple-X isn't drawn much differently from Barks' incarnation? Had she been a waterfowl...

Yeah, I have to admit, that was basically just trivial nitpicking on my part.
