Ooh, sexy. I'm going to be wildly over-optimistic and assume it means they're radically rethinking their approach to Disney comics.

Well, I'll be the negative nancy and remind everyone to keep their hopes low so they don't get hurt ;)
For all we know it could have nothing to do with the Disney brand (yet again, it could have everything to do with it....I hope you're right, GeoX)

"2.0" sounds for me like "going digital". Perhaps they will try to sell comics for the iPad (and other mobile devices).

Yeah, it's too early to know what this is all about. Communication and updates from Boom! is like the underground radio....it's hard to figure out what's going on until things have changed. It could be really stupid, it could be reall great. I wish they would put more out there rather than just a logo.

I'm going to be wildly unoptimistic and say they're going out of the Disney business for a while, and will return next year. :P Like Gladstone did.

It'd be neat if Boom! would just go the Topolino route: put all their comics in one magazine, add reprints and more stories, and put it on the newsstand.

I'd rather they not kill off the standard Uncle Scrooge book that's been published under someone or other since 1952. It and WDC&S have been around the longest with small gaps. IMO, the rest they can shuffle together if they want.

I hope they don't cancel any of their titles at least not the classic titles. That includes Walt Disney's Comics and Stories, Uncle Scrooge, Donald Duck and Friends, Mickey Mouse and Friends, Darkwing Duck, and the upcoming Chip N Dale Rescue Rangers if they're still planning on bringing it back.

They could publish more than one magazine, but in order to please everybody and get on newsstands, they'd have to publish their comics with a lot more pages.

I agree. One thing I don't like about these comics is that they're so thin. Even when the stories are good (like in Darkwing Duck) it's over so quickly. You get only 1/4 of a story and you're done with an issue in 5 minutes. The panels are big so it reads even faster, and there're no letters (besides WDC&S) or articles to read. $2.99 for 5 minutes is too expensive.
I was subscribed to the Dutch DD Weekly for 23 years and bought many European comics before I moved to the US at the end of 2008. That was right when Gemstone fell, so it was a double whammy for me. ;) European weekly or monthly Disney comics generally have at least twice or triple the number of pages of BOOM's comics. I don't feel that I get my money's worth now.
The cover and pages in BOOM's comics are much thicker and shinier than than your average European comic. That is nice, but doesn't that make them a lot more expensive? Why doesn't BOOM use cheaper, thinner paper and double the page count? They'd be able to continue these long adventure stories AND include a couple of short stories in each issue as well. And if it's too much work to prepare so many pages each month, they can have less titles or less issues per year. That's what I would do. ;)

I agree with all this. This is one reason why I haven't bought ANY of the Boom comic books. I may only buy the Mickey Mouse issue 300. Has that come out yet? My local comic book store doesn't carry Disney Comics, so I don't keep up on Boom's activities.

Yes, I picked up MM #300 a couple of days ago. My comic shop had at least 10 of them in the rack.

The letters page in WDCS #711 hints at the return of classic material in 2011 in a format other then hardcovers.
"Sadly, there aren't any plans to release a second volume of Mickey Mouse Classics... at least, not in the format you may be used to.
But you definitely should not be worried about the future of classic Disney characters - if anything, you should start getting excited for 2011 right now! Might the details of this paragraph have something to do with the details of the previous paragraph? Perhaps! Have I already said to much? Very likely!"
