Yesterday I went to Ganderville and I found something important:

"Cornelius Coot was born on 25 May 1790 in an European state.
Cornelius has always been portrayed as a good person, but there are several inconsistencies in his story.
Why founded Duckburg in 1818 and only 43 years later Americanized the name?
Why in 1925 a group of Duckburgian left Duckburg to found other cities?
Here is an answer to everything.
Cornelius started in 18?? from Europe with a group of his friends, one of them was Wilfredson Gander, Gladstone's great-grandfather.
In 1817, they reached the USA, and in 1818 they found Drakeborough.
Wilfredson wanted to change the name to Ganderville or Gandertown, but Cornelius said nisba.
Cornelius wanted to keep the English name to make friends with the Indians and then change his name when he needed money.
After 7 years of dictatorship, in 1925, Cornelius' friends Drakeborough left and went to found other cities:
Canard, Ganderville ...
Wilfredson became a Southerner.
In 1861, Cornelius changed the name of the city in Duckburg and made to pay an extra - tax.
During his retirement, he returned to Europe and married Mother Goose."
This is the document that I found in Ganderville.

Here's my answer for the competition between Duckburg and Ganderville. Cornelius Coot had a brother, Carl Coot. They both fighted for the hand of a woman. (Donald and Gladstone, anyone?) Her boyfriend should be a great leader. Carl founded a small village, around a hill called Goodmule Hill. He called it after his wife, miss Gander. Cornelius, quite a rookie, did by accident the popcorn trick with the Spaniards and founded Duckburg, after his wife, miss Duck. The woman died alone.

Wait a minute Cornelius Coot married someone from the Duck Family. That is conflicting with Don Rosa's Duck Family Tree. In that tree Grandma Duck is Cornelius' Granddaughter and She married Dabney Humperdink Duck.

Apart from the question "Rosa or not Rosa" I find the idea of several or even many families with the name Duck basically far from beside the point. One can notice that the animalomorphics in Duckburg and in its whole world bear quite often the names of the animals, to which they have clear morphological (evolutionary biological?) relations, as surnames (Duck, Goose, Coot, Gander, McEagle, McSwine ...).
Along the way: It is maybe the clear numeral predominance of the kynoids, the dog-likes, that is the reason why one hardly can see anyone of them with the name "Dog". If the overwhelming majority were dog-likes, their simple "animal name" wouldn't have worked well as nearest differentiation marker for the different individuals (which is after all the original sense of family names in growing societies), while the one or few "ducks" or "pigs" in a village or little town got their "animal name" easily as family name ...

I have some adds to do...
- Coot and his friends arrive in Drakeborough with the Green Hope. (D 99185)
- Cornelius escaves many tunnels to defend the Fort from the enemy who one time were his friends (I TL 1964-A ) and creates the Woodchuck Militia.
- In 1861, after 1 year from the Drakeborough's war,in which have fought Clinton Coot, General Stonewall Duck*, Donald Duck** and Wilfredson Gander** (as southernist), Cornelius decides to change the city's name into Duckburg to re-friend his enemies and brings mountain water in city. (W WDC 201-01)
- Some extremist have remained Coot's enemies and decide to fire the city.
After the great fire, caught a leprechaun in St. Patrick's Day and it gave Cornelius a pot of gold to rebuild Duckburg.
- To save himself, Coot returns in Europe and left his family to marry "Mother Goose".

Leprechauns does <not> exist, so, in my opinion, Cornelius Coot, taking advantage of the ignorance of his people, has invented the story to cover his bank robbery... xD
