I think Sport Goofy is just Goofy. He appears to be good at sport everytime he is needed.

David is right - without a doubt, Goofy and Dippy are the same person. Dippy was what he was called in his "adolescent" years, Goofy as he became older and more established. It's really as simple as that. No need to create new characters where there aren't a need for any.
If I recall correctly (and I may not be. David would know better) when I'd scripted that story I'd originally wanted to name him Dippy D. Goof - D being for Dawg - but as Dave explained, Gemstone had used Goofus D. Dawg because it had already been established in the McGreal's Blotman plotline. Personally i don't mind either (both sound fine IMO) but the more I dwell on it, the more I prefer the Goof surname if only because of the Gottfredson connection; the general rule being Barks is to Donald as Gottfredson is to Mickey.
Dawg could be considered a second family name or anything really. It just needs a creative hand to play with it in the correct manner, but I feel it needs to be reconciled somewhere even if - ultimately - it came down to retconning it some day in the far far future. (I detest retcons though and feel that there should be some way to reconcile it if you think hard enough). I dunno - the way I look at it, Gottfredson used both as the last name during different periods and Disney sticks with Goof in all of its modern iterations - so both are in some ways valid if this makes sense.
It's just a matter of somebody establishing once and for all just what it is to clear up the confusion. And its not a priority anyway.

I think you should go ahead and construct Goofy's family tree RIGHT NOW.
Actually I've in my head a Goofy family tree, but in it, Goofy had his old name, viz that by Maurice...

Actually, the McGreals have used "Goofus D. Dawg" in other stories, too??including at least one that Gemstone never published, "Crouching Mickey, Hidden Goofus."

And I used the name "Goofus" in my old story "Sir Goofus the Gallant," but Sir Goofus in that story was an ancestor of "our" Goofy, not Goofy himself.
So, my new completed Goofy's name will be Arthur George Goofus "Goofy" Goof...

It contains Gott's "A. Goof", Goof Troop's "G. G. Goof", 1950s "George", McGreals' "Goofus" and Babbit's "Arthur"... oh... and obviously our "Goofy"...

In this frame from "Goofy's Gymnastics", Goofy lives in a road called "James Boyd", a Disney staffer who worked on the cartoon...

In it, Goofy lives in a city called Willows, CA...

In Gott's strip of 2 October 1964, we can read on a letter the name of Goofy...
"(unreadable name of three letters) A. Goofy"

In another strips again, Goofy's name is "A. Goof", but Goofy's real name is... Goofy!
Dat's a nice interview to Pat McGreal in which he says he doesn't thing Goofus D. Dawg is real Goofy's name.
