I had thought I remember The Nephews mentioning that Glomgold was born or raised in Scotland, and that's why he is as cheap as Scrooge. But, apparently that wasn't in a Barks story, and perhaps they only said he has Scots ancestry and not that he, himself was born there? Maybe it was a well drawn Branca story? He drew many with Glomgold. And maybe I remember that from the Dutch text, not the English? Perhaps could that be why no one else here remembers that line? The translations often change meaning, or even whole statements to something completely different (they think is better to add than what they remove).
Does anyone else here remember that line about Glomgold being as cheap (frugal/penny pinching) as Scrooge, due to his Scottish ancestry (or Scottish origin)?

Quote from user: Roger NorthHis name was Lord Artefact Glomgold and he was an enemy of Sir Eider McDuck. I'll talk more about him on my Ideas for New Disney Characters Thread.
Quote from user: Roger NorthLord Artefact Glomgold
Genus Pedigree: Duckbill
Relatives: Flintheart Glomgold, Stoneheart Glomgold, Slackjaw Snoremore, *Descandents*
Pets: Unknown
Friends: The Saxons
Enemies: Sir Eider McDuck
Description of Looks: He looks like Flintheart dressed in a suit of armor with a brown beard.
Short Description of Life: Lord Artefact lead the saxons into battle with the scots and started the feud between The McDucks and Glomgolds. He also killed Sir Eider.
Reasons He could have been added: It would have been nice for Flintheart to have an ancestor.
Reasons He wasn't added: It wouldn't been appropriate to mention death in a Disney Comic.
I read and I like this charachter, but the fact he has killed Eider... :/

Interestingly, Flintheart is known as "Mac Moneysac" in Germany. The "Mac" being some kind of first name, as Scrooge often calls him "Macky".
Anyway, that tam-o'-shanter-style hat he prefers looks Scottish enough to me.

Yes. Perhaps THAT's why I attribute the Scots background of Glomgold to Barks. I may be remembering that Barks intended that Glomgold have a Scots background similar to Scrooge's, as he described to me, when I asked him about Glomgold. Scrooge would have more reason to relish the competition with Glomgold for amassing the most wealth, if his adversary were as penny-pinching and cantankerous as Scrooge, based on a similar frugal Scottish upbringing. That's why he gave him the Tam O'Shanter. If I remember correctly, he envisioned Glomgold brought up in Scotland in those frugal circumstances, and being a World-wide adventurer (like Scrooge). His quest for wealth and adventure took him to South Africa (most logically during the rush for diamonds, in the late 1800s. He made his first fortune there, and so, settled down there, similarly to Scrooge settling in Duckburg (one of the places he made big money).
Barks wanted Glomgold to have a life path somewhat parallel to that of Scrooge. It doesn't make sense to me based on what Carl told me, what he put in the stories, and how he portrayed Glomgold, that Glomgold would have been born in the country where he made his money, and have only worn the Tam O'Shanter out of family tradition.

Quote from user: Gerd SyllwasschyQuote from user: QuackbergBut what about that Junior fellow - in what comic does he appear, S 88020 doesn't say that much to me and I haven't find it in InDucks.
No?
Thank you, Gerd!
Junior looks a little bit like Slackjaw with the smaller Gladstone eyes. As Sim already have suggested, he might be the brother of Slackjaw, probably the older one. So, a more extended name for Junior could be Shuteye Snorehead Jr. (as my suggestion of Slackjaw's fathers name is Shuteye). But these are just some ideas from my part.

I think Flintheart was supposed to be potrayed as a more evil version of Scrooge. He is like Scrooge except that he is more dishonest. He would stoop to levels even Scrooge wouldn't stoop to. That's why he is still only the second richest duck.

I agree too, but if you read Guido Martina's stories Scrooge is more, more and more disonhest than everyone else... ;)

Thank you Gerd and Sim. I have read some of Guido Martina's stories. They don't do Scrooge justice. I still think Flintheart is more dishonest than Scrooge.

Martina used Flintheart Glomgold in http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL++615-AP . Do you really think Scrooge is more dishonest than Glomgold in that story? In my opinion, they come off as being pretty even (in that story).

In Italy, Flintheart is not known very well and the part of the dishonest, in Italy, is starred by John D. Rockerduck, even if, we can remember "Zio Paperone e il Bisbilione" (http://www.papersera.net/public_html2/yabbfiles/Attachments/Klub_der_milliardaere_001.jpg), in which we can see either Rockerduck and Glomgold, as in "Whatever Happened at Scrooge McDuck?"...

In D 2005-197, that I've read yesterday for the first time, Donald calls Flintheart "Brer Boer"...
The italian name of Flintheart is "Cuordipietra Famedoro" who litterally means "Flintheart Hungergold or Desiregold"...

I've just read W DD 115-01, that resembles S 88020..
In W DD 115-01, Scrooge's bilionaire rival is called Gotrocks as another Scrooge's rival, but in Italy he is called "Cuordipietra Famedoro", the italian name of Flintheart.
In this story, Gotrocks has a nephew called "Stonehart", who has to demonstrate to has more business acumen than Donald.
The name "Stonehart" is a portmanteau of "Stone" and "Hart", a german word who means "Hard"... ;)

Optimum!!!
In "your" panel, the judge is saying:
"... and the intelligence text will say to us which nephew is more intelligent!"
"Sure!" (Scrooge)
"Sure!" (Flintheart)
"But..." (Donald)
I find portoguese and spanish are pretty simple when a person speak italian every days, they resemble each-others... ;)

I really would like to read that story but I guess it's really hard to get and I think it's only in spanish/portuguese so it will be a lot harder for me to read as I'm Swedish.
