You know Carl Barks' story, "A Cold Bargain"? I think so. If not, you should. Now the question is: what is your best bargain for a Disney Comic? Mine used to be 25 eurocents ($ 0.34) for Beste Verhalen 1 (Dutch comic), which was worth about 50 to 100 times that! Now, since today actually, my best bargain is 15 euros (or $ 20) of Carl Barks Library set III, Uncle Scrooge 1952-1958.

I actually think my best bargain would be some of the late Whitmans; when I bought them in the early 1990's, they were considered trash (and in a lot of ways they are) and I could get them in the quarter bins for US$.25. Things like US 209, WDC 510, and DD 245 (the last pre-Gladstone issues).
Now, a quarter century later, some of those books are worth a small fortune due to their low print runs, the fact that many were only sold in bagged packs at toy stores. I just wish I'd known then, and I would have bought more of them. :)

I should remember that. I have been able to buy some Gold Keys from 1979 there, but they were 2 euro apiece so I bought 1. WDC 467, with late Barks' "Beach Boy". But they aren't that rare, are they?

I bought a near-complete full run of Uncle Scrooge in 2005 from a collection out of Alaska for $200.00 plus $40 for shipping (BIN). I essentially bought it to upgrade some of my issues in my run and flip the rest for profits to upgrade anything else I needed. I ended up upgrading about 35 issues in my own run and selling the remainders for about $600.00. (gave me the ability to actually purchase an Uncle Scrooge #179 and #310.) That was probably the best deal I ever had. You couldn't find a run like that today, just 5 years later for that price.....duck books have really skyrocketed in price in the last decade. Recently, I found a Donald Duck #28 and 30 in VF at my local 1/2 price book store for $6.00 total....both from 1953 and in superb shape.

It's a chain of new/used bookstores in the USA. There are at least 3 in my hometown: Columbus, Ohio. They have a "lock box" of higher value comics next to their dollar bins. (you have to ask a clerk to unlock it to check the full book condition, otherwise, you can just thumb thru the top of the box and view what's in there.) Their higher value comics are either way under priced or way over priced.... Amazing Spider-Man #56 in strict fair condition for $65.00!!!! But that is where I usually see duck books for under 10 bucks...They must not think that Disney books sell really well....I also found an Uncle Scrooge #39 in VF for $8.00, a few years back. It's a good place to check bi-weekly for new additions.

For you, going to Columbus, Ohio is a bit further than going to Zwolle, nietwaar?

The 2nd US Donald Duck comic has a Barks story in it. I'd be curious to see what the winning bid will be.

Zwolle: 140 km (90 miles).

I usually never buy comics in packages. If I had to choose from the rare time I do buy them in packages, then I choose the time I bought 14 German Lustiges Taschenbucher (pocket books) for 5 euro. That's around $0.50 each!

I bought US 310 for cover price. Didn't know until now that it ranked with 179 for rarity. Why is this?

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO! I have been in a store where I could buy many Gladstone comics for 2 euro and 50 cents, INCLUDING THAT ONE! Guess what I did? I spilled it on US 300, 302, DD 300 and WDC 585! @#$%#%$#^%$#@%$#!
