Hello fellow DCMLers. This year, I forgot to inquire about the Gemstone free Disney comic
in USA "Free
Comic Book Day". I never dreamed it would be occurring in May-as it was july, last year.
Last year I
obtained 2 copies of the free issue (Mickey Mouse in Barks' "Mystery Of The red Hat". I
was told that i
can't obtain this year's Gemstone Disney free comic now. Does anyone out there have an
extra copy of
the 2005 free book that they'd be willing to trade for a copy of last years' "Free Comic"?
For those in
The Netherlands, Germany and Denmark, I may be able to make the swap "in person" within
the next
several months.
Or, if that won't be possible, do you know where I can purchase this year's free comic?
Thanks very much,
Rob Klein

Hi Rob,
I, too, have not yet obtained my copy of this year's Gemstone FCBD
issue, but hope to get a copy next week from Fantask. I'll call them
tomorrow, and see if they still have them. If they have two issues, I'd
be happy to give you that extra copy. I already have last year's FCBD issue.
I really hope that Gemstone has obtained a license for printing
Gottfredson material, so that maybe next year's issue could have
Gottfredson material in it ? :-) OK, I know I'm dreaming ;-)

So yeah - since its Memorial day here in the US and all, I started doing
something that I havent done since I was in middle school - and I started
drawing some Disney characters, specifically the mice since I have such an
affinity for them. I think that letter I wrote a while back sparked
something with in me about comics that I havent felt since I was a kid. So I
just put the pencil to paper and this came out:

It's nowhere near done. I havent figured out if I like that specific
placement of characters yet as theres a lot more I probably wanna put on as
I figure out what I wanna do. I just thought I'd post it and show the people
here on the list and see what you all thought of it. I tried to stay within
a Gottfredsonian type style while maintaining a look of style all my own.
I'm just curious as to what ya'll think of the progress so far before I
continue.
...And yeah. Thats it. ^_^

> Jonathan H. Gray:
Beautiful, Jonathan! I just can't recognize Chief
O'Hara quite well. I like specially the 'villians'
section, with Peg-Leg and Emil Eagle with that
really-evil expression on their faces.
Wonderful!
Santiago.

Thank you ^_^
Actually I havent drawn Chief O'Hara or Detective Casey yet. You're probably
looking at Doc Static (whom I'm definately gonna redraw). I was going to put
him in a robot like with Emil Eagle for symmetry's sake but decided against
it after I'd scanned the picture cause it doesnt work. Plus this is the
first time I've *ever* drawn Static as opposed to everyone else so I wanna
make sure I get him just right (staying on model and all that).
From left to right starting at the bottom row:
Melody Mouse, Morty Fieldmouse, Gilbert Goof, Ferdie Fieldmouse, Mickey
Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Pluto, Figaro, The Phantom Blot, Pegleg Pete, Sylvester
Shyster, Eli Squinch, Goofy, Pflip, Eega Beeva, Horace, Clarabelle, Captain
Churchmouse, Colonel Doberman (I may move them), Emil Eagle, Doctor Einmug
(unfinished), Doc Static (unfinished)
