That does sound like the publisher is culling out only
the best markets (that is, where the most copies will
sell) in which to distribute the comics.
Do they at least offer these issues by mail if you
live elsewhere in Brazil?

Note that the money bin is actually Mats Rune Gullikstad's model of the Money
Bin
and that it's on the photo where actually stands "Notre Dame de la Garde",
Marseille's symbol central place as the Money Bin would be to Duckburg...
The car is a Burago 1/18 model of the actual 313 car
the tin Donald toy and the mickey puppets are chinese copies of actual 1930's
toys

The top selling channel for Editora Abril is the subscriptions ,
where the magazines are delivered not by mail companies,
they have their own logistic structure to deliver the magazines.
For the specific Disney Comics magazines case, Editora Abril don?t
sell it by subscriptions since almost five years !
Another very important selling channel is shops (periodical boards), and
supermarkets , the only places where the Disney Comics magazines are selled
today.
For people who live elsewhere, Editora Abril is offering the possibility to
buy the magazines by the internet, but you need to pay for the mail.
The problem is not exactly pay for the mail.
Because it?s more difficult to buy Disney Comics, they ?gives you much more
work?, at the same time the other comics like ?Monicas Gangs?, ?Menino
Maluquinho? and ?Revista Recreio?, another magazine for children by the
Editora Abril, are being normally distributed, by all sales channels.
So the people buy another alternative comics, and no more buy Disney Comics.
In my personal opinion it?s the worst professional marketing plan in all
the times.
Maybe, they don?t read Uncle Scrooge Comics !

Dutch comic convention in Houten

A short report from the Dutch Stripdagen (comic convention) in Houten,
last Saturday.

The Dutch editor had a small stand. Smaller than a few years ago, but
better than nothing.
Several artists were doing drawings, while other writers and artists
just walked around.
Surprisingly, most current Disney writers and artists were present.
Daan Jippes told us that he is still drawing Barks' Junior Woodchuck
scripts. He is also going to do the scripts that are only available in
final form (artwork by Strobl or Wright). He'll have to try to uncover
Barks' original intentions from these drawings.
Jippes is also doing a comic called Havank, to be published later this
year in the newspaper Algemeen Dagblad.
Mau Heymans is going to do more longer stories. Ten-pagers and such, if
possible in cooperation with Kirsten de Graaf. (That's exactly the way I
like it! 8-)
Sander Gulien is doing the back cover gags for 2006: Uncle Scrooge. On
scripts of Jan Kruse.

I am looking for a U.S.-published Uncle Scrooge story/comic in which either
Scrooge or Donald and the 3 boys sail to an island searching for nutmegs.
That's all I know. Does this ring a bell for anyone. It's supposed to be a
story from at least 40 years or so ago. And I don't know if it was Barks.
Can anyone help?

I thought i'd post a comment here. Did anyone else catch this? I liked this story, and I liked that Gemstone kept the name Disney gave Donald's superhero guise when he first appeared in three issues of DISNEY ADVENTURES digest a few years back. I liked how it had a very fast pace and there was some good thinking on the part of Donald himself. If this was a "pilot" or try-out for more stories featuring Duck Avenger in DDA, or even giving Duck Avenger his own traveler-sized book, then I vote "yes".

I ask this because there is Danish remake of this story, and I was wondering
if that is the reason for why they decided to re-draw it. Changing Football
into soccer, which was much more familiar in Europe at that time.

Foolish mortals everywhere will have reason to host their own swinging wakes
when SLG Publishing, in partnership with Disney Publishing Worldwide,
releases the first issue of The Haunted Mansion, a comic book anthology
based on the classic Disney E-Ticket attraction. Scheduled for an October
2005 release, The Haunted Mansion will feature stories by some of SLG
Publishing's top creators including Roman Dirge (Lenore), Serena Valentino
(Gloomcookie, Nightmares & Fairy Tales), as well as from some talented
newcomers.
The Haunted Mansion comic book will draw from the strong visual elements of
the ride for its stories and will not be based on the feature film. "The
ride's elements really lend itself to an anthology comic book" commented SLG
Publishing president and series editor Dan Vado. "There are 999 ghosts
living in the mansion, that means there is potential for 999 different
stories."
The comic, in a series of stories that will run through the first several
issues, will create a new backstory for the Mansion and tell the
intertwining stories of The Ghost Host, Madame Leotta, and the Bride who
resides in the attic. How they all came to be in the mansion, and the
mansion's powerful attraction to spirits and ghouls, will all be revealed.
"The goal is to create a comic book that feels like a little piece of the
ride living in your bookshelf," added Vado. "The end result should be
something that will satisfy the casual reader as well as the hard core ride
fans (like myself) who have spent good chunks of their lives riding The
Haunted Mansion over and over again."
Vado admits that the partnership between SLG Publishing and Disney seems
like an odd fit. Known for comics like Lenore, a dark humor comic featuring
stories about a little dead girl by Roman Dirge, SLG is hoping that the
combination of the companies' creative sensibilities and Disney's vast
wealth of characters will make for, at the very minimum, some interesting
comic books.
The Haunted Mansion will be a 32-page black & white comic book with a cover
