Maciek, in 1994 Editora Abril wanted to improve Joe Carioca's hero identity
"Morcego Verde" (Green Bat) and then creator Marcelo Cassaro wrote 4
stories:
1) B 940063 "O Cavaleiro das D?vidas" (writer: Marcelo Cassaro. Artist:
Paulo Borges).

Something like "The Debts Knight" - It's a spoof of Frank Miller's "The Dark
Knight", where Morcego Verde's origin is re-told following Moore's vision
(very softened of course). Joe Carioca becomes the Green Bat after a
"psychological shock" (including slow motion marbles falling on the ground),
when a debt collector succeeds to make him pay a debt. Then he puts on the
bat costume and starts "punishing" any debt collector he finds (including
soccer referees). Chief O'Hara has to call Super Goof to try to stop him. In
the end he agrees to stop the punishments, but goes on as the Green Bat.
Good artist Paulo Borges made a nice job using Miller's art as reference,
and got the 1995's Abril Journalism Award-1995 for the best comic art.

(including rain drops on puddles in the beginning and in the end)

Green Bat all the time and giving no attention to their relationship (yes,

statue.
And again, nice job of artist Paulo Borges, especially depicting Rosinha as

inspired by its population of mixed national origin. Hence the St. Patrick's
Day parade. Also of course the probably most famous of them all is the
Easter Parade, immortalized in the 1948 movie of that name.
For 75 years Hollywood has had a Christmas Parade, instituted in 1928 with
the participation of celebrities along with Santa himself. In 2001 (and
probably many times before) Disney characters appeared as well, and the
parade inspired Gene Autry to write the song "Here Comes Santa Claus". (Gene
was both country singer, movie hero and cartoon character in his own book

onths - or maybe more, depending on how thrifty you were or wealthy and
generous your parents. Also Harvey had many reprint titles, the digests
which were never very popular for Disney comics, as well as occasional
one-shot, but although individually named they were numbered in the regular
series.
Archie comics seem to have followed Harvey's trend, and although at the time
(we are roughly talking the 50es here) Dell's success with a few massively
selling Disney titles worked well, today at least Archie comics seem to do

Thank you SO much for telling us about these Jose
Carioca comics. I'm an American Jose Carioca fan, and
I would love to be able to read these Green Bat
stories at some point. Even if they were only
digitally released, it might be kinda cool.
BTW, does Gemstone/DPW have any plans for a Disney
Comics DVD on the lines of what other comic companies
have released (i.e. a DVD comic collection)?

Hey everyone. I was snooping around the internet for some Gottfredson sites
- I didn't find much but I did find this interesting snippet of news!
Albeit it's a little old from 2006 - The last paragraph in bold - this was
posted july 25th http://www.marvelmasterworks.com/news/archive2006.html.
This is the first i've heard of this. Anyone at Gemstone know about this?

Obviously, an anthology would be awesome of Gottfredson's mickey mouse
strips something like the CBL library.
Thinking out loud, my opinion is that if disney can fit a cartoon on a DVD
of Donald as a Nazi (with a disclaimer of course) - I don't see any reason
they couldn't release this in a similiar fashion Just slap a disclaimer on
it.
Anyone like to add anything to this or put in their two cents? Lord knows
this beats trying to scrounge up money for that damn german MM reprint set
and finding someone with a copy. Hehe :-)
*DISNEY ARCHIVES FROM GEMSTONE IN THE OFFING?*

Short answer? Yes. Long answer? Be patient.
In my further discussions with Gemstone, I asked if there were any plans to
release a comprehensive hardcover archive of Carl Barks' Duck material.
Currently, foreign markets in Norway, Sweden, Germany and Denmark are
getting lovely hardcover reprints of all the Barks Duck material in
chronological order, and while those fans are just ducky right now, their
release in Europe is getting in the way of a domestic US release. Within a
couple years, however, that will change. Once the non-interference
arrangement with European licensees elapses, the decks will be clear for US
release, and that will likely be in 2008.
And just to repeat: we'd be getting chronological Barks Duck releases, in
color, in hardcover. If this news doesn't make you quack with joy, check out

Are you a Floyd Gottfredson mouse fanatic? Gemstone will have you covered,
too! They're in the planning stages of a similar initiative to cover Floyd
Gottfredson's seminal work on Mickey Mouse strips, which began back in 1930!
This is about all there is to say about this project right now, but as soon
as there is more info to pass on, I'll let you know!

The item is a bit old, but even at that it's essentially correct.
Gemstone has entered what I suppose you could call pre-production on
a so-called Gottfredson Library project, though I don't at this point
have any sort of scheduling info to offer.

Yes, I should have known that, Microsoft products are always fussy with
file names. I spent about 3 hours this morning renaming folders and
restoriing broken links. I have a few more hours of work to do on it,
then I'll upload new files and you should be able to see everything.
Don't think I'll get it done today, though.
In the meantime, you might try reloading pages you're looking at,
sometimes that pulls in the images.
