Hello.

Does anyone know where to find some newspaper strips of Marco Rota's
"Ringo il Vichingo" (Ringo the viking) from the late 1960-s? I am just
looking for a few scans or maybe a web adress.

Does Mr. Rosa have a story, epic or otherwise, about Huey, Dewey, and

Don is in Baltimore this weekend for the Comic Con And I asked him about the
story idea.
I don't think it is his responsibility to find his own replacement.
Guys like Carl Barks and Don Rosa are pretty unique.
We will just have to hope someone finds Disney comics themselves.

Don says he has no plans for such a story and he has no outline to share.
Regarding Disney comics, The license with Geppi is nearly up and let's send
him our desire for him to continue
publishing.
I know he can't be making much if any money doing it.

what a great job they are doing and that you want them to continue.

Well, assuming that it's even possible to create a story like that without
destroying the time-space-continuum, there ARE tons of active writers out
there, so if one of them decides to write one AND the editors approve,
which difference does it make that Don Rosa doesn't have an outline to
pass on?

Then again, it would probably be an awful story anyway, and I hope that
nobody ever writes it.

Just look at the eager by which some fine people express their views on
Don Rosa.

Mine is more simple and in order to emphasize that, I've made seven
bullets:

1) Don makes great stories in general.
2) Don's revelations in his longer stories about family relation ships
etc. are boring and only leads to pseudo-science about who did what and
who got married to whom.
3) Although humour of the best kind is present everywhere in Don's
stories, they work best in his (old) short stories.
4) Life of Scrooge is a boring book and I sold it. The place I sold it
no longer has the book on their shelves, so someone must have bought it.
5) Don makes funny stories in general.
6) Don is not the best. Don is Don and much finer and more brilliant
Disney comic stories were written and drawn by somebody else.
7) Don cannot compete with the best Disney comic stories written, due to
the fact that he never made any.

Absolutely not. I just show my views on Don Rosa in exactly the same
ways as many others do. Only my views were not 100% positive.

I didn't ment "The Land of Tra-la-la" but Don Rosa's sequel to that story - "Return to Xanadu"

Those are very old rumours indeed. Don *intended* to
include a hint to the whereabouts of HDnL's parents in
that story, but the sequence was deleted from the script
and never included in the actual story.

This question was originally raised when Harry Fluks did a
report on his visit to the Napoli Comicon in March 2003:

When asked about this, Don Rosa answered:

So Don Rosa planned to have the Ducks revisit Scotland as
early as 1990, when he wrote "Return to Xanadu". This can
still be gleaned from details in that story, such as
Scrooge reminiscing about repairing his sisters' dolls and
longing to see the hills of Scotland again. This was
before Rosa had done any of his Lo$-stories!

We can probably infer what the intended suggestion was.
The missing Ducks, this being HDnL's parents in the first
place, but possibly Scrooge's sisters as well, had
relocated to Scotland to repopulate the deserted Castle
McDuck. Eventually, only Matilda was allowed to appear in
a story, and only after Don pressed the case. (Why the
Ducks didn't meet anyone of their missing family during
their 1948 visit ("The Old Castle's Secret") would
probably be left unexplained, as it still is in Matilda's
case.)

In an earlier post (March 2003), I wrote on this subject:
