As a follow-up on my previous post: I remember reading a
message to DCML, in which someone (Lars Jensen? Olaf
Solstrand?) mentioned that he wanted to do a story on the
origins of Gyro's helper, until he heared of Don Rosa
planning to do just such a story. I'm still curious as to
what became of this unfinished(?) Helper's Origin Story.
I know that Don Rosa already told us (his version of) the
origin of Gyro's Little Helper in "Gyro's First
Invention", but that doesn't mean we can't have multiple
versions. Especially since the other version originated
before of simultaneously with Don Rosa's, so it's possibly
not even influenced by Rosa's version.
As it is, "Gyro's First Invention" is probably my second
least favourite Rosa story, right after "The Three
Caballeros and the Preposterous Title That Didn't Have
Anything To Do With The Story", albeit not because of the
Helper's origin story.

this was very common up to around 100 years ago.
You dont hear a lot about it nowdays, but it still happens.
are there laws against this in Europe??

There are in Greece, where there is no distinction between blood relatives and
relatives by marriage. Siblings cannot marry siblings, unless they do so at
the same time. (From what I've read, this loophole was developed by queen
Amalia in the 19th century, so the rule used to be even stricter in older days.)

a note from "Cousin Della", who is supposed to be the
nephews' mother.
- "Thelma" is the name that Carl Barks gave to Donald's
sister in his unpublished Family Tree, but this name never
made it into a comic and thus has no official status.
- Don Rosa decided that HDnL's mother was indeed Donald's
sister, but chose to name her "Della" rather than

Apparently, there *is* such a law in Greece. (This subject

What is there to say? True, I wrote such a script once. Obviously, this
was declined -- for which the main reason was that Don Rosa was already
working on such a story. That's the whole story. The script later got lost
in one or several disk crashes.
I actually finished that script, but only for unprofessional reasons: I
wrote the entire script before I really started writing for Egmont, so I
sent them the whole script instead of sending them a short plot and
waiting for them to accept or decline it. But that's all in the past
now... And I don't mind. I seem to recall that it was a terrible script.
