I don't know, but its appearance here suggests that the writer has been
following Disney comics at least since 1987, when Rosa debuted (as
opposed to being an old Barks sourdough). Does anyone recognize the
Rosa stories from which these panels of Magica and Scrooge/Flintheart
sprang? It's a long shot, but I thought I'd ask...

Bibo & Lang Mickey Mouse Book

Hi,
I've recently started a new blog on vintage Disney comics & books, in
which the last posti as of now, includes full (which I believe is the
first time they have been available on the net in full) scans of Bibo &
Lang's Mickey Mouse Book from 1930, the first ever Mickey Mouse

Scrooge and the Mortgage Crisis

Greetings to all!
The satire in the Weekly Standard with Uncle Scrooge asking for government assistance indeed had to come from a Disney Comics fan!
But I have to object: Scrooge would never have gone bankrupt by investing in subprime mortgages, which were mainly about political correctness in getting mortgages to people without the means to support a house or pay a mortgage, and then "bundling them" to be sold to investors higher up the food chain in an irrational bubble market.
Instead, Scrooge would now be buying the parts of the "wreckage" that could be rehabilitated and looking to increase his fortune in the future!
If Uncle Scrooge comic books were read by more Americans, and by more Europeans, our economies would be in much better shape! Uncle Scrooge is all about hard work, personal pride in accomplishment, individual freedom, and the absence of whining about how awful things are! If you think things are awful, then you get to work and make things better!

But I have to object: Scrooge would never have gone bankrupt by investing in subprime mortgages, which were mainly about political correctness in getting mortgages to people without the means to support a house or pay a mortgage, and then "bundling them" to be sold to investors higher up the food chain in an irrational bubble market.
Instead, Scrooge would now be buying the parts of the "wreckage" that could be rehabilitated and looking to increase his fortune in the future!

Uncle Scrooge is all about hard work, personal pride in accomplishment, individual freedom, and the absence of whining about how awful things are! If you think things are awful, then you get to work and make things better!

Let me get this straight: the current financial and economic crises which
are causing lots of firings, factory closures, loss of pensions,
bankruptcies etc. etc. all over the globe are *not* primarily caused by
irresponsible greed in the financial sector in combination with
international political instability and failed economic policies... but
rather by "political correctness"?!?! (Whatever "political correctness" is.)
I'm stunned.

If people are hurting due to no fault of their own, they have the right to
whine. And I refuse to base my financial dispositions on a fictitious
character who stores all his cash in a glorified piggy bank.

(As for mentions of Launchpad and of Donald still being in the Navy,
the author doesn't seem to know much about the Disney Ducks outside
of DuckTales.)
