The shipping costs are really high :( I will think about an multiple issue order. Or perhaps we can manage to order together.

$39.99 USD for 4 issues?! Wow!
Would it be cheaper to just wait until March for the $9.99 trade paperback? Judging by the Amazon listing that ramapith posted, it'll be the first 4-6 issues.

It's actually *5* issues. So it is *only* $8 per issue (instead of the usual $3).

Anyway, that's nothing compared to ordering just one issue. What was it, $18?

Well, forwarding by mail adds to the shipping as well. Maybe you won't save much if you can't find a dozen of people living within walking distance from your home. I'm considering ordering issues in sets of 10, which I guess means one order per quarter, or the like.

Egads, that's still very, very high for a pamphlet comic that is just a reprint of material that's been published many times already. :(

You'd have to be a pretty dedicated fan to pay that much. ;)

A man with shorts is a bigger fashion crime than a man with no pants at all. :)

I'll wait for the paperback collection. This can be ordered with free shipping at Amazon or my local books store.

That is expensive. I'll think I'll buy one at a store if I can find one that sells Disney Comics in my city.

Blake Petit at comiXtreme used to regularly review Gemstone's titles. What did he think of MMF #296?

"Man, it's nice to have the classic Disney comics back, isn't it? It's been nearly three years since the last Mickey Mouse comic here in the states, and several months since the remaining comics vanished, so to have one in my hands again feels really good. That said, let's look at how this issue measures up as a line-launcher. In truth, it's okay. This story, a European reprint, casts Mickey and his friends as sorcerers in a fantasy world where Mickey -- the sorcerer's apprentice, of course -- has to chase down a magic crystal he lost to a trickster villain. Along the way, he finds some good friends to help. I'm of two minds about this book. It's not bad -- fans of the Kingdom Hearts video games in particular will find something to like. And the artwork is just wonderful. But as the first Mickey book in several years, I kind of wish Boom! Kids had gone with something a little more traditional. This is Mickey, Donald, and Goofy, but not really the Mickey, Donald, and Goofy we know and love. There's certainly a place for stories like this -- I just don't know if it should be first place.

I think Blake Petit is right. When I heard there were going to be American Disney comics again, I didn't expect this. I don't really like it, either.

Another review by Chris Barat (who also regularly reviewed the Gemstone books)...

The issue has sold out from diamond and is going into a 2nd printing with a cover that is almost the same as the original but Donald and Mickey change positions on the cover.

That's good news for Boom. A lot of their kids books sell out, honestly.

Wasn't the cover with Donald front and center the one used in the Netherlands?

What do you mean? "Wizards of Mickey" isn't published in the Netherlands and I'm sure it won't be for another at least 5 years.
