Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #700 will have an extra story titled Close-ups by William Van Horn in the back.
I've also learned that the next two issues of WDC&S will wrap up the first four-story arc of Ultraheroes and starting in January (the same month the first Ultraheroes TPB comes out) WDC&S will start a new four-story arc with Mickey Mouse in The World of Tomorrow! That's pretty cool! :)

The World of Tomorrow is not exactly a new story. I have that storyline in Walt Disney's Comics and Stories #s 588-590 and it's three parts long not four unless of course it's a remake by a different artist. If it's the Floyd Gottfredson version then it is no different than the one I have.

A story by William Van Horn is always good news.

I've been really looking forward to more Ultraheroes. I hope my shop actually orders copies of this and Mickey Mouse. They carry kids' comics like Disney and Archie, but tend to not order many copies.

Indeed. This book is definitely a must-buy. "Close-Ups" is arguably one of the most unusual stories Bill has ever done.

Van Horn's "Close Ups" is 8 pages. That leaves only 14 pages for the superhero story. Or did they add 8 pages to the issue?

14? Your pocket calculator must be on the blink. ;)
Besides, Arthur said something about a "double-sized issue".

Arthur's post in this thread said nothing about a double-sized issue, and neither did the official preview. The regular issue size has 24 pages, but only 22 of comic story. I HOPE (at least) 8 extra pages are added to the issue, to accommodate the story. A double-sized issue for $2.99 would be a nice surprise.

WDC&S 700 has extra pages for the Van Horn story for the same price of $2.99. Pretty nice, he? :)

Close-Ups is one of my favorite, but isn't it a kind of strange to include a style which is very different from the Italian's style?

I assume that this is an effort to try to keep the adult "nostalgic" fans, along with the general plan to go after new child readers. Otherwise, they lose a decent % of the Gemstone readers, who don't like the new, Italian, superhero formats. I admit that I was ready to only buy the Uncle Scrooge, and not the other three. Now, I will struggle to decide if I want to have that Van Horn story in both Dutch and English. I won't buy all The Walt Disney's Comics & Stories just to have all the books in an historical series. I have limited room for paper items, and will eventually need to get rid of items I want less than others.

I really don't understand the negativity towards the Boom! books. If the Gemstone format sold, we'd still have Gemstone, but obviously the market couldn't support that approach at this point in time. I'd rather have new Italian stories than nothing, which is what we had a year ago.

I see. I had based my calculation on the Inducks entry for WDC 699 which says that the 1st part of Ultraheroes is 26 pages. So the Inducks is wrong in this case?

I agree with Alexander. The New Italian stories are better than nothing. Almost all I hear when I come in here is how bad these new Boom Studios issues are. Why can't more people be happy that there are Disney Comics?
