Quote from user: Alexander KnoxIf the Gemstone format sold, we'd still have Gemstone, but obviously the market couldn't support that approach at this point in time.
This was discussed and disproved in another thread on this forum. No, I don't remember which thread.

Then forgive me if I remain unconvinced. The point is, this is what we've got for the time being, and I don't get why people seem so down on it.

Quote from user: arthur... starting in January WDC&S will start a new four-story arc with Mickey Mouse in The World of Tomorrow!
When I had read this I assumed it was Gottfredson's story from 1944 (it has 90 pages, so I figured it would go in four issues) but I was wrong; it's actually Topolino e il mondo che verrĂ  (http://coa.inducks.org/story.php?c=I+TL+2721-3P) by Casty.

So there is another version of the story.
Rodney
More than likely not another version, but another story with the same title.

THis is one of the first comics I've looked forward to since the 80's, probably, Might be one of the few that's not down on it, only thing I don't like about it is with the language it almost seems like they're trying too hard to sound modern, if that makes sense at all but the artwork is totally awesome.
Roger North
That doesn't make any sense. Why use the same title for a different story when they can use a different title? It's so confusing.
Rodney
I'm pretty sure that the "World of Tomorrow" title for the Gottfredson story was just made up by Gladstone's editors anyway.
Robb_K
If Gladstone's editors named "The World of Tomorrow", they did it in a previous life! That story was serialised in "Walt Disney's Comics & Stories" during the mid 1940s. My issues have the story title printed as "The World of Tomorrow". Maybe Western even asked Floyd Gottfredson or Bill Walsh to give it a title.
WB
I'm pretty sure that I've heard numerous times that Gottfredson was asked to give titles to his stories over several points in time (specifically those that were printed by Western early on) so I don't think any of them were made up by random editors unlike what happened with Barks' untitled material for many years. Gottfredson was also still around when most of the info on what he'd accomplished was being compiled and finally recognized.
Rodney
.......which is exactly why I only said that I was "pretty sure". I wasn't certain if Gottfredson had taken part in the naming of any of his serials, but suspected that he did not. I see now that I was wrong.

You're forgiven.

And I found the thread. It's http://dcf.outducks.org/viewtopic.php?id=496 .

OK, that makes sense then.

For the record, I was a Gemstone fan (their first 6 issues of WDC&S may be my favorite run ever), but lost interest over time due to the expense (by the end I was only buying Uncle Scrooge if I knew that I'd enjoy at least two of the stories; if I wasn't sure I'd put it back on the shelf). I just kind of assumed other people burned out on the line as well.

Does anyone else who got it and follows it fidn it kind of strange that Inquinator is one of the main focuses of the story but nowhere to be seen on the cover?
Not a gripe or anything, just musings..
Kcduck
Did anyone else notice that the white incentive cover for Walt Disney Comics and Stories was misprinted on the cover? It has #384, the latest Uncle Scrooge issue number, not the historic #700. I wonder if there will be a new printing of the error covePr
